Long Description
This isn't so much a sword - it's more a large pink earthworm with a hilt.
Appraise
The Worm Sword is about four feet long and three inches wide. It is made of earthworm and could be used as weapon type misc.
Earthworm Material
The Worm Sword is made of a material called 'earthworm'. This material is unique to this weapon. It is also non-metallic and thus cannot be engraved.
Acquisition
From the stationary shop (similar to the T-shop, but it stays in place) on Long Street in Bes Pelargic for approximately 630Rh.
Holding messages
When you hold the Worm Sword you get a message:
You feel the power of the earthworm surging through your veins! You hold the Worm Sword in your left hand and right hand.
Others see:
Frazyl waves a large pink earthworm at you. You fight the urge to run! Literate Frazyl holds the Worm Sword in her left hand and right hand.
When you unhold the Worm Sword you get another message:
You feel tired and drained as the worm power deserts you. You put down the Worm Sword.
Others see:
Frazyl's worm sags and flops. Literate Frazyl puts down the Worm Sword.
Training
The Worm Sword must be trained to be any good. It starts out as an very poor weapon, but it gets better the more kills you achieve whilst holding it. As its kill count increases, the Worm Sword also grants Wormcommands.
Please note that the Worm Sword must be held for a kill to count and the sword must react to the death. The possible reactions are:
Your Worm Sword faints in astonishment! Your Worm Sword goes all floppy. Your Worm Sword jumps out of its skin! Your Worm Sword passes out at the sight of blood! Your Worm Sword swells in pride. Your Worm Sword swoons in amazement! Your Worm Sword tries unsuccessfully to act all casual and pretend it isn't surprised.
On the 601st kill, the worm sword will gain the command earthworm and will instead have this reaction:
Your worm feels empowered and engorged.
As the weapon starts off very poor, killing very weak things or having an alternate means of killing things is advised.
- Killing weak little npcs like chickens, frogs or the like works fast enough since it doesn't seem to matter what you kill.
- Using squints to kill enemies does give credit to the worm sword if it is held, but if for example your opponent dies from bee stings from Mother Feelbright's Busy Bees the worm doesn't get the credit and doesn't react to the death.
After a lot of kills, the worm sword will judge better.
Notes
The only scabbards that can hold the Worm Sword is a Large Tequila Bottle and sword belts. The bottle is available from the hidden room in the Scabbard shop on the Bazaar in Djelibeybi for 150 tooni. The sword belts are available at the Moonlit market during the full moon for about A$30.
Since the Worm Sword is not a talisman it is possible to delude it normally.
