Description(s)

Descriptions are example(s) from a single individual. Variations may be numerous, and dependent upon species, gender, age, location, and other variables.

Wolf (Sto Plains - Skund Forest, Wolf Trails, Grassland Forest Clumps)

This wolf is lean and full-coated, sketched all in shades of cream and grey from the sharp black tips of her ears and tail to the white fur of her soft underbelly. Wary grey eyes peer out from the dark mask over the muzzle, and her creamy paws are placed with delicate care to avoid the least rustle.

  • Alignment: 8 to 9 degrees evil

Wolf [variant] (Sto Plains - Skund Forest, Wolf Trails, Grassland Forest Clumps)

This wolf is a lean wild thing, his haunches and shoulders stringily muscled under his thick tawny coat. Reddish ears are pricked and alert behind a pale golden muzzle, and there is a sprinkling of black over his shoulders and down his spine, overlaying the reddish gold of his fur.

  • Alignment: 8 to 9 degrees evil

Wolf [variant] (Sto Plains - Skund Forest, Wolf Trails, Grassland Forest Clumps)

The dark coat of this wolf gives him a rather sinister appearance. Dark grey eyes are nearly indistinguishable in the black face, and it's difficult to make out the movement of his limbs under the thick black fur, which seems to absorb what little light there is.

  • Alignment: 8 to 9 degrees evil

Wolf (Sto Plains - Mountains)

This wolf is lean and full-coated, sketched all in shades of charcoal-grey from the sharp black tips of his ears and tail to the silvery grey fur of his soft underbelly. Though at the peak of the food chain, he has a wary light to his eyes and places his feet with delicate caution.

  • Alignment: 10 degrees evil

Wolf (Uberwald)

This is a large wolf, a well formed mass of muscles and fur. This is the kind of wolf that has an appearance that would make Little Red Riding Hood travel the woods with an armed escort. Her dark amber eyes are intelligent and calculating.

  • Alignment: Neutral

Wolf (Mad Wolf)

This wolf's muscles bulge beneath its coat of black and grey fur, but those really sharp claws and teeth might be of particular concern at the moment.

  • Alignment: Details needed.

Big Bad Wolf (Bois Forest)

This huge ball of teeth and fur looks far more menacing than your average wolf, standing up on its hind legs and exhuding a strange savagery not usually found in dumb animals. It is a constantly moving flurry of threatening looking body parts, and moves with the sort of disturbing determination usually found only in particularly unpleasant humans.

  • Alignment: Neutral

Uses

  • None

Special Notes

  • May be found singly (mostly males) or in packs of up to six wolves.
  • Wolves found at most Forest Sto Plains locations are often aggressive; and Wolf Trail wolves are always aggressive. Sto Plains Mountain wolves are rarely aggressive; and single wolves in all locations are less likely to be aggressive than packs.
  • Wolves in Uberwald are the strongest type, but are also never aggressive[2].
  • Unlike werewolves, who instantly attack you, wolves will slowly notice your presence and only then move aggressively towards you:
A silver wolf is lying sprawled on his side, a black wolf is lying sprawled on her side, a grey wolf is sitting here, a tawny wolf is dozing under a bush, a silver wolf is sniffing into the undergrowth and a creamy wolf is standing here.
The creamy wolf looks startled.
One of the silver wolves pricks her ears and leaps forward.
The grey wolf stares at you with amber eyes, as her lips slowly wrinkle back from her teeth.
The black wolf crouches low to the ground.
The tawny wolf growls softly.
The silver wolf looks startled.
The creamy wolf pricks up her ears.
The silver wolf flattens her ears to her skull.
The grey wolf snarls viciously.
The black wolf drops to her belly and creeps forward.
The tawny wolf looks startled.
The silver wolf drops to his belly and creeps forward.
The silver wolf and the creamy wolf scent the ground thoughtfully.
The creamy wolf, two silver wolves, the grey wolf, the black wolf and the tawny wolf move aggressively towards you!

  1. General disc locations for the bestiary defined
  2. Not to be confused with werewolves, who are also named "wolves" but ARE aggressive and much more powerful than any wolf. See a few differences between the two.
