Tricks

Needed:
1) Large hag stones, obtainable by searching in rooms around Creel Spring, the creek near Granny Weatherwax's cottage and Scrogden.
2) "Granny Benedict's Bond of Loyalty" to bond the stone to you, or a witch who can bond stones to you
3) The command "educe" for the end.

Useful links:
1) Goodie Whemper's Research Notes [1]

This is THE definitive guide, although it might be a little hard to understand at first reading!

2) The Discworld Witches Guild [2]

This is an old website, it hasn't been updated for some time, but then Trick-making hasn't changed much either! It lists out the steps one at a time and is quite detailed.

3) The Wiki page on Tricks

The wiki is good at answering some queries regarding bonuses, headspace, etc. This may help you decide how many stages you want your Trick to be.

4) Gunde's Trick creation wizard... erm witch [3]

Still struggling with how to write a Trick? This witchy wizard will write all the relevant commands for you. The best ever!

FAQ

Q: What is the Trials about?
A: See Witch Trials information.

Q: Terrible timing. Terrible day. I can't attend. Boo.
A: Totally. I agree with you. As it happens, there is almost never a "best time" to hold an event on a planet that is a Sphere instead of a flat Disc. Perhaps next time!

Q: How do I participate?
A: Send a tell or an in-game mud mail to Qiuyan.

Q: How do I donate?
A: Send a tell or an in-game mud mail to Qiuyan.

Q: I'm not a witch! Can I attend the Trials?
A: Yes! We would like to have lots of spectators. If you wish to attend, be at Charlie's at Lancre, or ask for transport to the event over the talker channel (One).

Q: As a witch, can I attend but not participate?
Sure! But witches who participate get monies just for participation!

Q: Where is Lancre? Where is Charlie?
A: Lancre Town is in the Ramtops, and Charlie is fond at the end of a small footpath one north and two east of the T-shop stop in Lancre Town. See Kefka's Ramtops map [4].

Q: What are the prizes? How much monies will I get for participating or winning?
The final list of prizes will be revealed closer to the Date. Watch the Witches' Board for more info.

Prize donations have started already! Good stuff: 1 pair of dex gloves, kindly donated by Tarzan, with more promised stuff on the way.

Also we are taking donations of clothes. Ellanie has promised some. This is turning out very witchily. :P

I am looking for:

Prizes -- to make up a total of 9 sets of prizes for the winners in each category. Coveted stuff are T-shop stat items, permalights, custom blorp sets, sets of 1000 smelly seeds, rare weapons, etc.

Monies -- for the winners and participants!

Random stuff -- stylish clothes in good condition, and other things you'd like to donate to us, the poor ugly warty hags! The more the merrier!

Now regarding how to make Tricks, here are the most helpful I've found so far. You need large hag stones, obtainable by searching in rooms around Creel Spring, the creek near Granny Weatherwax's cottage and Scrogden. You'll need the spell "Granny Benedict's Bond of Loyalty" to bond the stone to you and the command "educe" at the end.

4) Gunde's Trick creation wizard... erm witch

Still struggling with how to write a Trick? This witchy wizard will write all the relevant commands for you. The best ever!

One more thing: Any witches who would like to participate but can't make it to the event should send 3 large hagstones imbued with their Trick to me, preferably with a small label on each stone with their name, the category they wish to join, the number of stages and the name of the Trick on it. 3 is a safe number, in case they decide to explode in my hands. :p

All witches can compete in all categories, there is no maximum participation limit.

More prizes have been delivered and promised! Jerec has kindly donated title changers, a pair of iron gauntlets, two darkened stiles and two tiger fangs. Keita has -- I suspect he has emptied his bank account, but maybe not -- donated very generously in cash. Our Tawny has donated some very nice clothes, a blackened canteen, a crystal ball, a bag of 1000 smelly seeds AND also money!

Also more stuff has been promised, by Emily and the Dragon's Nest on Pallant Street. And talks are in progress for more cash and prizes yet!

Right now we are (that is, I am) looking for reliable and skilled wizzards to portal and for bat-feeding duties on that day, and I am also looking for priests with Divine Hand, Cool, Warm, Cure Drunkenness and Cure Knurdness.

Witches are strongly encouraged to participate! Participation info is in the link below! Lawks!
