Truffle

Truffles can be found if you have a truffle pig. There are many kinds of truffles. You can feed them to your pig, you can eat them yourself, you can sell them.

How to get truffles

  • Buy a truffle pig from the pet stall in Slippery Hollow.
  • Take your pig to deciduous forest rooms. They are marked with an f when using map command.
  • Start with: encourage pig to start looking for truffles, and walk through forest rooms slowly enough that you can see the pig's reaction.
  • If it squeals or gets excited: encourage pig to dig for truffles (The encourage syntax used to use search now it uses dig.)
  • You can also encourage <pig> to {start|stop} looking for truffles to toggle whether your pig is on the lookout for rooms containing truffles.

Encouraging a pig to dig for truffles takes 30 GP, and uses the crafts.hunting.foraging skill.

It is possible to forage for truffles while in combat.

Other pigs, such as those with the swineherds, will eat truffles as soon as your pig finds them. As will falcons and moose.

> look
[deciduous forest close to a lake]
The land is lit up by the eerie light of the waxing gibbous moon.
The trees in this part of the forest have grown together in small patches. What little light there is in the night sky shines through the budding branches and glistens on the cold, moist ground where sleeping seeds wait for the warmth of the morning sun. Once fully awake, this part of the forest will be a sight to see. The shimmering waters of a lake are to the south and southwest and stands of tall trees cover the ground to the north, east, west, northeast, southeast and northwest. Four miles to the northeast is the road to Mad Wolf, two miles to the west is the Kings road, nine miles to the west is the Lancre river, ten miles to the west is Lancre Town, four miles to the south sits Pictsie Barrows, ten miles to the southeast sits the peak of Bear Mountain, thirty miles to the southeast are some of the long, wall-like peaks of Drumlin's Fell and three miles to the north is the village of Creel Springs.
Fallen twigs, curled ferns, and myriad animal tracks are everywhere you look.
It is a very chilly spring prime's night with almost no wind and a beautifully clear sky.
There are four obvious exits: north, east, swim south and west.
A happy-looking truffle pig and a sable Ramtop wolfhound are standing here.
A small avocado truffle is on the ground.
