Descriptions are example(s) from a single individual. Variations may be numerous, and dependent upon species, gender, age, location, and other variables.
This mainly small, stocky woodland bird, a long-tailed tit, has a short stout black bill, greyish-brown wing feathers, and a short olive-brown tail. It has a light olive-brown cap and similarly coloured chin and throat. Its eyes are small and dark, its cheeks dirty-white, fading into off-white on the side of its neck, and its back brown while its underparts are shades of yellowish-orange fading into buff on its flanks. Surviving mainly on a diet of seeds, nuts, and insects, it's always fluttering about in search of its next meal.
