Talk:Senssu fan

I'll just say it right out--the way the infoboxes look here and on collapsable steel baton is terrible (the best I could work out, but still awful). And it would be kind of terrible even if they did stack properly, because it's not obvious which infobox is for which state just by glancing at it... so does anyone else think it would be a good workaround to split each page into two? As in, Senssu fan (open) and Senssu fan (closed) with Senssu fan redirecting to the first one. And links between them, obviously. I mean doing this as a general thing, if there turn out to be weapons besides these two that have different states. --Ilde 19:50, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

What if it looked something like this?
Senssu fan

Weapon Information (open)

Hands 1
Type Misc
Price {{{Price}}}
Weapon Information (closed)

Better, I guess, but it still seems unwieldy. Were you thinking of changing the template or just replacing it with a straight table for these cases? --Ilde 20:15, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
I'd actually been thinking about making stackable versions for all the boxes, for e.g. weapons and armour that are also stat items. --B (t) 20:19, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
Oh, hey, that could be cool. And for weapons that also have a poison effect? --Ilde 20:25, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
ETA: Would there be some way to have unused rows just not show up? I.e, the price row that exists in the template but which I didn't bother adding to the actual pages of all those weapons that didn't have that info. But which still shows up, just in an ugly way. --Ilde 20:27, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
Yes, but not 'til we get some of the enhancements to the wiki that we've requested. One thing I've actually been thinking is that it's probably not very useful to put price on there, so much as value, as obtained with the value command. --B (t) 20:36, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
Hmmmm... what about instances where the fence value is different from what you can buy it for, though (actually, I'm not sure how many items have the same price and fence value)? I was thinking of price being in there as sort of a, "and this is how much you can expect to pay to acquire it" thing, not so much for looting purposes (I see these pages as a kind of guide to choosing a weapon). But, I really only put it in there because one or two weapons had it in their tables and I wanted to incorporate the information. --Ilde 20:45, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
True. In any case, it's probably best to remove it from the template -- later, we might add a general Item template that contains the more basic information every item has, like weight, size, material, and then stack on extra properties like Weapon and Stat Item and Armour. --B (t) 20:51, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
Hmmm... yeah, you're right. Price info, if applicable, is sort of implicit in the link to Kefka's database anyway... though, oh, god, I just noticed that all of those link to his *old* page. So it just goes to a redirect... I wonder if there's any automated way to just go through and change them all. I mean, it looks like the item numbers are the same--so it would just be a matter of looking for every and replacing it with . If this were all in one text file it'd only take a moment. :p --Ilde 03:27, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

I'm not sure what to make of judge for the closed senssu fan. I was hoping to narrow it down further but I got an incompatible result.

Ilde put bonus 188, Quite good judge which gives 27 - 38 rating.

With a 219 bonus, I'm getting good, which gives 55 - 65 rating.

This is weird. Maybe it got changed... ?

Since I just judged it right now a bunch of times I'll update it anyway.... Frazyl 05:24, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

I just picked up another one, and it also judged as "quite good" for me. I thought maybe I didn't fix up the other one first, but I made sure to fix this one to perfect condition... with my 192 bonus, "quite good" is still a 27-38 rating. I'm not sure what's going on here... maybe there are multiple types of senssu fan? I got this one from Serene Roses. ETA: Deposited the fan itself for you so you can have a look at it. My judge also didn't mention stab, although I have the stab command and should see it in judges. --Ilde 07:47, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
Mmmm. I also got it from Serene Roses, it was an amber fan. Will look into the one you left me...
Ah, a black senssu fan.

You think that the black senssu fan is a reasonable melee weapon of type misc that can be used to bash.

You think that the black senssu fan is an excellent melee weapon of type misc that can be used to slash and stab.

Uhoh. I opened it again and this time:

snap fan
You quietly fold the black senssu fan with a slight rasping sound of steel and silk.
judge fan
You look closely at the black senssu fan.
You think that the black senssu fan is a good melee weapon of type misc that can be used to bash and stab.

Err. I made it better? ^_^;

Is it possible that it changes when opened/closed and updates itself but it was an old one that hadn't been closed for a long time? Snapping it more doesn't seem to change it. I guess I'll deposit it back for you to test it again! :p Frazyl 21:57, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

That's strange, it's still judging as "quite good" for me. It could definitely have something to do with snapping it open, but unfortunately I don't have enough Agatean culture to do so. And I don't think it was an old one--I'd fumbled it away from Serene Roses the same day. Maybe it's a bug... I'll rep it and see. --Ilde 00:05, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Mmmm. On getting another black fan from Serene Roses it judges as reasonable again. I guess it is generated that way but on snapping it twice it changes back to the other judge for some reason. My amber fan also does the same thing, it was on me when I logged in and judges reasonable until I snap it twice and it judges good. So I think it's a bug with the snap command that doesn't change it back the same as on regen. Frazyl 01:31, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Ah! I got a reply back... apparently it was a bug and has been fixed. If you don't still have one to judge, I'll su and judge mine in a bit. --Ilde 20:14, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Alright! Seems to stay at reasonable now when closed. You might want to judge too, maybe we can narrow it down further if they overlap. Frazyl 20:48, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

My judge says "quite good" at a bonus of 190--a range of 27 - 38. --Ilde 23:56, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
Mmmm. I thought there was a syntax to put in this case Rating: 27 - 35 but I don't see it. Frazyl 00:23, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Yeah... I changed it on list on the category page, anyway. --Ilde 03:03, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
