I've observed that I only seem to tm direction from a map when it says I reassess my position on the map (or whatever the exact message is; I don't have a map on me at the moment to check. I don't know if this is really a requirement, though, or just coincidence. --Ilde 01:13, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

It does seem that I got a tm from studying the same map again, without moving at all--certainly without reorienting myself. Not sure if it was counted differently somehow because I studied multiple maps at once the second time, or what. --Ilde 23:47, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
