Modifiers By Weapon Class

I've been informed of the following modifiers to parry effectiveness per weapon type. Can anyone confirm if this is accurate? Tempo (talk) 11:02, 9 March 2019 (EST)

Parry and weight

Judge gives a rather naive (and misleading) evaluation of the parrying quality of a weapon, because it does not take into account the weight of the attacker's weapon.

If you factor in the weight of the attacker's weapon with the general weapon weight formulae from the mudlib, you get the following (rather pretty) graphs:



Useful things to note:

  • The best weight weapon to parry with is one that's approximately the same weight as the attacker's weapon (specifically, one that weighs 3/9 lb more) - significantly heavier and lighter weapons are both worse.
  • If you are going to have the wrong weight, though, it's better to be heavier than lighter - the penalty increases more quickly if the defender's weapon is lighter than the attacker's than it does if it is heavier.
  • Two-handed weapons are slightly better for equivalent weight if the defender's weapon is the heavier; if lighter then the number of hands makes no real difference.
