Required number of pieces of clothing matching the current fashion for ritual bonus

> finger Gapp
This week, Gapp is favouring samite clothes and the colours red and goldenrod.
He particularly desires that His children should glorify His name by adorning their garments with emeralds.

1 or 2 pieces of clothing matching the current fashion does not give the ritual bonus

> locate worn red clothes
The red badge (worn) is in your inventory.
The blood red silk stole (worn) is in your inventory.

> perform devout inquisition
It seems somewhat easier to perform devout inquisition because you are near a stylish place.

3 pieces of clothing matching the current fashion gives the ritual bonus

> locate worn red clothes
The gaudy red plaid shirt (worn) is in your inventory.
The red badge (worn) is in your inventory.
The blood red silk stole (worn) is in your inventory.

> perform devout inquisition
It seems quite a bit easier to perform devout inquisition because you are near a stylish place and you feel comfortable in your stylish clothes.

> locate worn red clothes&samite worn clothes
The gaudy red plaid shirt (worn) is in your inventory.
The red badge (worn) is in your inventory.
The blood red silk stole (worn) is in your inventory.

> perform devout inquisition
It seems quite a bit easier to perform devout inquisition because you are near a stylish place and you feel comfortable in your stylish clothes.

It looks like the check for adornments has not been (fully) implemented. Trying totem on a piece of clothing with emeralds

> look mitre
Towering above the head, this tall, official headdress bestows upon the wearer an aura of magisterial grandeur. Created by deftly folding lengths of rich, purple silk around a hard cap, the mitre is the work of an expert craftsman. To the front of the soaring crown of the headdress is affixed the golden visage of the sphinx, its eyes two gleaming emeralds.

> totem mitre
You cannot perform totem because the sphinx-topped magistrate's mitre isn't stylish enough.
> look magnificently ornamented velvet robe
Patterned with intertwining gold and silver braid, and encrusted with enough emeralds to make it appear as though the wearer had contracted an incurable plague of shiny green beetles, this floor-length robe is so magnificently ornamented that hardly any of the azure silk velvet can be made out.

> totem robe
You cannot perform totem because the magnificently ornamented velvet robe isn't stylish enough.

Performing mend on a piece of clothing that matches the current fashion gives an additional bonus because the item is holy:

> locate worn red clothes
he pair of red and white striped dungarees (worn) is in your inventory.
The red badge (worn) is in your inventory.
The blood red silk stole (worn) is in your inventory.

> perform mend on dungarees
It seems a lot easier to perform mend because red clothing is holy, you are near a stylish place and you feel comfortable in your stylish clothes.

Performing mend on a piece of clothing that opposes the current fashion gives a penalty because the item is an abomination unto Gapp:

> perform mend on green trousers.
You find it much more difficult to perform mend because you are far from a stylish place and green clothing is an abomination unto Gapp. However, this is partially mitigated by the fact that you feel comfortable in your stylish clothes.
You consider the art of weaving.
You hold aloft a pair of green trousers, and feel Gapp's presence around you.
