Nicolette Leveaux is the custom clothier for the Thieves' Guild, whose shop is located in the basement of the Ankh-Morpork guildhall. She has a very large variety of custom clothes available for purchase. In addition, she sells tools used to repair both cloth and leather items.

The final cost is based on amount of material used as well as the cost per yard of the material used and the cost of any trimmings. The catalog in the room describes how this works more fully.

Note: depending on the article of clothing you order, different options may be available, for example, trench coats have the option to add pockets, while an eyepatch does not. This article attempts to list all the common options that one may expect, but is not exhaustive.

Categories

Nicolette Leveaux offers the following categories of custom clothing.

Upper Body

SHIRTS
Our shirts and blouses can range between knee-length and hip-length, depending on customer specifications. They feature full-length sleeves that can be fitted, as well as optional pockets, trimming, and buttons. Yardage ranges between 2 and 3 yards, depending on length.

TUNICS
Our tunic type items include standard tunics, tabards, waistcoats, vests, and bodices. All are sleeveless, however tunics are the plainest and least fitted, usually falling straight and loose to somewhere between the hips and the knees. Tunics are worn by members of every class, though not by the wealthy to events and functions. Typically tunics require between 2 and 3 yards of fabric.

Tabards are typically worn by those who serve nobility, or knights.

Waistcoats feature a snugger fit and are open in the front, often secured with buttons. This is a gentleman's garment. Vests are a primarily lower-class male garment similar to the waistcoat aside from the class distinction. It's a multi-functional garment, useful for nearly any occasion or occupation. Trimmings are available for this item. Waistcoats and vests can range between 1.25 and 2 yards, based on length.

Bodices are worn by women of all ages, though the younger ones tend to more highly appreciate the cleavage-enhancing effects of the tighter fits. Our bodices are all fastened at the front with buttons, and can feature either a high cut for the proper ladies, or a lower cut for those looking to attract the attention of a gentleman. They may include any trimming desired. Basic yardage is either 2 or 2.5.

Lower Body

SKIRTS
Our skirt type clothing includes regular skirts, petticoats, and underskirts. Skirts are generally intended to be worn without any additional skirts, and are worn extensively by women of every station. They use between 2.5 and 4.5 yards of fabric, except for underskirts which traditionally require less.

Petticoats are a classier item, generally worn by those of greater wealth. How they are worn differs widely across the disc according to custom. In some locales they are worn like an underskirt, though the overskirt in that case is usually raised to best display the ornate trimmings typically found on a petticoat. A petticoat can also be worn as a decorated skirt, without skirts beneath or above it.

Underskirts are almost always worn beneath an overskirt or apron. These are more typically worn among members of the lower classes.

APRONS
Our apron type clothing includes smocks, aprons, pinafores and overskirts. Smocks are generally worn by tradesmen and artisans that wish to protect the clothing worn underneath. Aprons, pinafores, and overskirts are typically worn over a skirt or underskirt, and are available in a variety of lengths, ranging from the floor to the thighs, although such a high cut is not appropriate in respectable company. The overskirt and pinafore tend to be more ornate than the apron, since it is typically more displayed. Aprons and overskirts are common among members of all walks of life. Yardage ranges between .75 and 2 for aprons, or 2.5 and 4.5 for overskirts.

TROUSERS
There are many types of trousers: the standard pair of trousers, leggings, slacks, pantaloons, jodhpurs, britches, breeches, and hose. They are all quite similar, and generally worn only by men, and never by women of good lineage. Trousers, leggings, slacks, and pantaloons are longer than britches or breeches, extending to the ankle, instead of ending at the knee. Jodhpurs are typically used for riding by the wealthy, or as an exceptionally bold fashion statement. Hose is the well-bred man's leg-wear, usually made from a knitted stretchable material, and ideally showing a skin-tight fit to best display the well-formed calves of the wearer. The trouser items range between 1 and 3.5 yards.

Full Body

ROBES
Robes are full-body garments, falling loosely to the calves or beyond. They are most typically worn by those of a clerical nature, be they scribes or members and students of the priesthood. Robes can be a splendid disguise for thieves, due to the ease of hiding items beneath them, as well as the general unwariness shown towards priests and scribes. These can be between 6 and 8 yards.

DRESSES
There are two types of dresses: the standard dress and the gown. Dresses are suitable for women of every station, and tend to be a bit plainer and less full than gowns. Gowns are worn primarily by the upper classes, especially at formal functions or simply for outings in the city when you want to impress your fellow shoppers. Gowns are quite a bit fuller than standard dresses, and usually feature more extensive decoration. Both dresses and gowns can feature either fitted or belled sleeves, if the normal fit just isn't suitable, and can range in length from the thighs to the floor. These are between 4 and 10 yards, depending on length.

Our frocks encompass a range of garments, and depending on the cut can be either a robe-like garment or a woman's item of clothing combining both a shirt and skirt into a single garment. Lab coats are also suitable for either gender and a variety of uses. Yardage ranges of frocks are the same as for robes, though lab coats are a bit less.

Undergarments

MALE UNDERGARMENTS
There are quite a few undergarments suitable for men. Undershirts cover the arms, shoulders, chest, back and abdomen, and can vary in length between the hips and the knees. Drawers, boxers, loin cloths and y-fronts both conceal the groin region, though the drawers and boxers are fairly loose, while the loin cloth and y-fronts should fit snugly. Long johns are available as underclothing as well. Yardage is variable.

FEMALE UNDERGARMENTS
Undershirts are also suitable for women of lower class, though those of breeding should probably opt for the sleeveless camisole or collared partlet instead. The chemise is ideal as a full-body undergown, and is also commonly used for sleepwear, as are nightdresses and nightgowns. Knickers, bloomers and panties are available for intimate protection, though knickers and bloomers tend to be more ornate than simple panties, and girdles can also be had for figure enhancement. Yardage is variable. Corsets provide bosom support for the upper class woman.

Accessories

ACCESSORIES
Gloves are a wonderful addition for any lady or gentleman of breeding, and we also feature cheaper options for the less fortunate who feel the need to keep their hands warm. Socks and stockings are available in a variety of sizes, ranging from the thighs to the ankles. Yardage is variable.

Oversleeves are a must for any lady not wearing a gown or dress, to cover the plainer underclothes' sleeves. A less classy option is the simpler armband. Our collars, bow ties, cravats, ascots and suit ties are ideal for the proper gentleman going about his business. Stoles and scarves are a wonderful addition to the outfit of both sexes, no matter your class. Yardage is variable.

Sashes, cummberbunds, and belts make a nice statement with any ensemble, and a bandana is ideal for any lower-class woman that spends time cleaning. The eyepatch or a mask is always a hit at parties, and highly useful for the thief who doesn't want to be recognised.

Outerwear

OUTERWEAR
Outerwear include jackets, coats, overcoats, trench coats, cloaks, capes, jerkins, and doublets.

Jackets, parkas, and coats are simply different words for the same thing, depending on taste. Both reach to the waist, and feature sleeves, pockets, and buttons. They are 3 yards in length.

Again, overcoats and trench coats are very similar in function, however there is style difference, as overcoats are more proper for the upper crust than trench coats. Both vary between knee-length and floor-length. Yardage is between 3.5 and 5 yards.

Cloaks and capes bear many similarities, both wrapping around the body to some extent, with no sleeves and only one button located at the neck. However cloaks tend to be fuller, while capes use less material. These are both more prevalent among the wealthier members of society. These vary between 3 and 8 yards, depending on which garment is used as well as its length.

Jerkins and Doublets are both close fitting, hip-length, and typically only worn by men. Jerkins, however, are somewhat more common and also sleeveless. Doublets usually feature ornate trimming and a collar, as well as a series of prominentely displayed buttons across the front where it fastens, whereas the jerkin will likely be more sedate. These are 2 and 3 yards, respectively.

Custom clothing options

Material

This is what the item will be made out of. Nicolette will present you with the following subcategories:

WOOL
Wools can come from different animal sources, and be spun and woven in different manners, producing fabrics of differing quality and properties.

Regular wool is $8.00 per yard.

Angora is a pricey option at $14.50 per yard, however it is well worth it. This wool comes from mountain goats specially bred to produce long, silky hair.

Cashmere comes from a Klatchian goat with fine, soft fur. As such, it's got a lovely texture, guaranteed to make the less fortunate drool with envy when they see it. At $14.50 per yard, this luxury is quite affordable for the effect it will have.

Felt is the cheapest wool option, and features a blend of common sheep wool and fur and a mixture of other fibres. It is generally firmly woven. At $4.50 per yard, it is a good choice for any peasant.

Flannel is a soft, light-weight sheep wool with a loose texture that makes it not very durable, though of very pleasant texture. It is ideal for wintertime undergarments, though suitable for outergarments as well. At $8.00 per yard, it is quite a bargain.

Gabardine is a very sturdy fabric woven of sheep wool. It features diagonal ribs in the weave of the fabric, and is most typically worn as a winter suit for the wealthier working man. We charge $12.50 per yard of gabardine used in your clothing.

Tweed is a rough woolen fabric, affordable for the working peasant and very durable. It is warm enough for even a cold winter, though not comfortable on the bare skin, so an undershirt is recommended. At $5.50 per yard, it is a hot item.

FUR
Our fur items are best described as a combination of wool and leather. The inside of the garment is the soft and supple skin of the creature that provided it, and the fur of the creature is faced to be the outer part of the garment.

Plain fur is $20.00 per yard.

Beaver fur is warm and durable, and oft cited as a must-have for undergarments. At $20.00, it's a good deal.

Our sleek cat fur is available for only $10.00 per yard.

Dog fur can be part of your next garment for just $5.00.

Ermine is a type of weasel, with extremely soft, pure white fur and a black-tipped tail. Highly expensive, this fur is a symbol of royalty, especially when the tips of the tails form a black pattern against the white background. At $50.00 per yard, this is certainly a fur fit for a king!

Leopard fur is pleasant to the touch, and usually of a tawny colour with dark, rosette like markings. Fairly hard to find and quite dangerous to kill without marking, this fur sells for $40.00 per yard.

Lion fur is quite similar to that of the leopard, though a bit tougher and with shorter fur. Often seen as a symbol of bravery, this material sells for $35.00 per yard.

Mink fur is soft, thick, and lustrous, truly the most elegant of furs. Its natural colour varies from yellowish brown to black, and usually has gorgeous highlights. At $45.00 per yard, this is certainly a noble fur.

Rabbit fur can be any variety of colours or patterns, and it is quite soft to the touch as well as supple. Fairly common, it sells for only $20.00 per yard.

Our cheapest fur, belonging to the common rat, is worth $3.00 per yard.

Yeti fur is pure white in its natural state, hence easy to dye. The texture of their fur is fairly rough, though quite durable as well. Due to the frequent hunting of these creatures for sport, their fur is quite easy to obtain and only $15.00 per yard.

LEATHER
Highly durable and fairly affordable, this is a material ideal for physical extertion, such as riding, soldiering, or exploring the vast wilds.

Regular leather is $20.00 for each yard used.

Alligatorskin is quite tough, as anyone who has met one could tell you, assuming they lived to tell the tale. It is also quite stylish with a natural pattern that is both distinctive and pleasing to the eye. At $20.00 per yard, this is quite a bargain.

Basiliskhide is quite rare and as such expensive, as suppliers are lost on a regular basis, and those replacing them tend to demand high fees. The most expensive of the leathers, it is also the most durable. Currently selling for $35.00, you had best buy this while we still have it in stock!

Chimerahide is also very difficult to obtain, and due to high demand it sells for $30.00 per yard. Durable and tough, this is bound to impress anyone you encounter.

Cowhide is the cheapest and most common of the leathers, though fairly durable for the price. Stiff and somewhat splotchy, it is good for rougher labour at $10.00 per yard.

Deerskin is soft and supple, though not quite as durable as some of the other leathers. Pleasing to the eye, as well as to the touch, this wonderful find sells at $25.00 per yard.

Dragonhide is one of our most prized materials, and at $100.00 per yard it is also our most expensive. Due to the extreme difficulty and risk in obtaining dragonhide, however, the cost is well justified. It is not particularly thick nor durable.

Goatskin, though not as soft as deerskin or as strong as cowhide, offers a moderate combination of their qualities. At $17.00 per yard, this could be the material of the next addition to your wardrobe.

Horsehide is quite tough and stiff, though durable to match. Selling for $15.00 per yard, this leather is easily affordable.

Lambskin is perhaps the softest of the leathers, though also among the less durable. Quite soft to the skin, this is a real steal at $22.00 per yard.

Snakeskin features a pleasant and colourful pattern, though it is least durable of the leather family. At $15.00 per yard, why not make your next belt a snakeskin one?

Wolfhide, though as common as cowhide, is a bit more pleasant to the touch though less durable as well. At $10.00, it is well affordable for any day of 'roughing it'.

COTTON
Cotton is a very versatile fabric, allowing for a large variety of weaves, strengths, and other defining features. It's usually inexpensive and suitable for nearly any purpose for the lower classes. The more expensive options are a fine choice for those of the middle classes.

Plain cotton is available for only $6.00 per yard.

Batik is a basic cotton weave, however a lengthy Klatchian colouring process involving hot wax and dyes sets it apart from the rest of the Cotton family. At $10.00 per yard, that makes it an affordable treasure.

Batiste has a basic weave, however it is lightweight and sheer, with a graceful drape. Of Genuan origins, it is most commonly used as a liner, or for blouses or lingerie. It costs $4.00 per yard.

Broadcloth is a sturdy, plain cotton of heavier weight. It drapes well and holds creases, as well as being a durable fabric. At $2.00 per yard, it is a tried and true favourite among the peasantry.

Chenille is taken from the Genuan word for 'caterpillar,' and it describes this luxurious fabric accurately. Chenille is a thick fabric with a heavy, fuzzy pile. It is most commonly used in robes and outerwear. Certainly ideal for a worshipper of Gufnork, with its fluffiness affordable at only $17.50 per yard.

Corduroy, another Genuan fabric, is much hailed as the 'Fabric of Kings,' however at $6.50 per yard, it is affordable for the middle classes as well. This is a durable, cotton pile fabric with vertical ribs, and it is smooth to the touch.

Denim features a twill weave, and it is quite stiff and extremely durable. It doesn't wrinkle, and at $9.00 per yard, it is ideal for hard labour, or those who do not take good care of their clothes. Denim can take a lot of abuse.

Dotted Quirm is a lightweight cotton with a pattern of knotted dots. It has a soft drape, and it is nice and cool. Combined with its uniqueness, it is quite a buy at $13.00 per yard.

Lawn cotton is very fine and sheer with a tight weave and nice drape. This fabric was first manufactured in Genua, and is highly regarded for its use in lingerie, blouses, and dresses. Selling now for only $8.50 per yard.

Organdy is another Genuan discovery, moderately priced at $6.00 per yard. It's very fine and transparent, though quite stiff. Ideal for older ladies and gentlemen that value that stand-alone stiffness in their garments.

Pique is a medium weight cotton weave originating in Genua. It features a raised woven design forming a pattern of small squares. It is very durable, has great body, and good drapage. It is perfect for stylish summer clothing, and well worth $6.50 per yard.

Seersucker is great fabric for travelling, and mostly distinguished by its lengthwise puckered stripes. It is a great fabric for quality suits, and currently selling at $8.00 per yard.

Terrycloth is a wonderfully absorbent fabric with uncut loops on both sides. Soft, warm, and durable, this is a great deal at $8.00 per yard.

Twill is distinguished by its diagonal stripes and durability. It is stiff and strong, and is ideal for trousers, uniforms, and labour. At $9.00, this rugged fabric is well worth the cost.

Voile, Genuan for 'veil,' is a lightweight limp fabric. It is mostly used for blouses, lingerie, and loose garments. Selling for $8.50 per yard, this is a real steal.

SILK
Silk is created by unwinding the cocoon of an Auriental Moth. Even though it originates in Agatea, silk is now produced in most civilised locations throughout the Disc. Although sometimes as cheap as cotton, silk requires much better care and frequent washing. It also tears easily, so it is not recommended for the more 'active' members of society.

Plain silk can be purchased for just $10.00 per yard.

Charmeuse features a soft and supple satin weave that drapes very well. It has a lustrous and reflective finish, best suited to blouses, dresses, and lingerie. At $16.00 per yard, this fabric is a must-have for any lady's repertoire.

Chiffon, Genuan for 'rag', is lightweight and sheer, perfect for full and flowing garments. It has a slightly rough feel to it, but is still extremely elegant and very light-weight. This material can feature in your wardrobe for only $12.00 per yard.

Dupioni is a fairly thick and sturdy silk, formed from two different colours of thread so that it will shimmer as it catches the light. Somewhat crisp and reflective, this fabric is ideal for any range of business and formal wear, and often features in bridal gowns as well. At $13.00, it is well worth the price.

Four-ply is the thickest fabric of the silk family, and the heaviest as well. It is very lustrous and smooth, with a fine drape. It is used mostly in the same manner as the Dupioni silk, though a bit more costly at $15.00 per yard.

Gauze is a fine and floppy silk, sheer and light-weight. It can be seen through at least partially, hence it used most often for scarves and lining, and rarely as the main material of a garment. At $8.00 per yard, it makes a fine and affordable accessory for any classy outfit.

Habutai, meaning 'soft as down' in Agatean, is remarkably soft weave imported from Bes Pelargic. It is lightweight and lustrous, with a graceful drape. Ideal for linings and lightweight garments, this material sells for $8.50 per yard.

Lace is slightly stiff and features a loose patterned weave. Usually downright transparent, this fabric is most suitable for trim, lining, or undergarments. At $8.00 per yard, it is an affordable addition to any outfit.

Noil has a nubby texture and little sheen, though a gentle drape. It is also durable and difficult to wrinkle. It is mostly used for trousers, skirts, dresses, jackets, and men's suits. Only $10.00 per yard, this fabric is both useful and affordable.

Organza is sheer and thin, light and durable, making it ideal for most garments. It is also stiff, holding creases well. At $12.50 per yard, this fabric makes a welcome contribution to any wardrobe.

Satin features a thick, close weave with a glossy surface and smooth yet crisp texture. This is ideal for full garments, and will cost you only $13.00 per yard.

Taffeta features a wavy lustre, slight sheen, and a crisp texture. Smooth and lightweight, this fabric is used mostly for women's garments. Currently selling for $9.00 per yard, it is easily affordable.

Velvet is a soft and elegant fabric that both looks and feels expensive. It drapes gracefully, falling close to the body, and is best suited for use in dresses and evening wear. Rather pricey at $40.00 per yard, this is the fabric that will let people know just how much you are worth.

PLANT FIBRE
Among our cheapest clothing materials are Linen and Hessian.

Linen is gathered from flax plants, then processed and spun into sheets of cloth. It is a very versatile fabric, both durable and cool, and easy to work with and clean. It is also quite thin and drapes easily, while resisting wrinkles. It's very affordable to all-comers, at $5.50 per yard.

Hessian is made from the spun and woven fibre of the hemp plant. It is a fairly rough fabric however, and usually worn only by peasants and horses. It's quite durable, and ideal for hard labour. It is our cheapest fabric, at $1.00 per yard.

Style

STYLES
Some styles are only suitable for certain classes of society, while others are sub classes of those classes, or completely beyond classes. In any case, the style of your clothing is probably the singly most important aspect of it, so choose carefully.

The beggar style of clothing is certainly the most basic and ragged, specially tailored to look poor. Suitable for only the lowest of the low, there is no surcharge for this style.

Peasant clothing tends to be quite basic, though slightly better formed than that worn by the beggar. This also features no additional charge.

Farmer clothing, a subset of that worn by the peasant, tends to be specifically suited to the lifestyle of the daily labourer.

Servant clothing is ideal for servants, who typically have little money but must appear presentable enough to suit the master and his guests, as well as not attract attention. There is an additional charge of $1.00 per yard for this style.

Woodsman clothing is specifically suited for travel in the great outdoors. Seams are specially created and reinforced so as not to catch or tear on brush and trees. This will add $1.00 per yard to the cost of your garment.

Soldier clothing is quite distinctive in its purpose. Durable and with its own unique cut, this costs $2.00 per yard.

Items with a distinctive Thief cut cost $2.00 per yard. This includes Mugger, Prowler, Safecracker, Smuggler, and Cutpurse tailored items.

Riding clothes are quite a bit classier than those mentioned so far, since it assumed that those riding will be wealthy enough to afford a horse. As such, the style of this clothing is both practical and fashionable. This style adds $2.00 per yard to your garment.

Sailor clothing, though fairly common to look at, requires a special style unique to the trade. As such, it costs $3.00 per yard.

Pirating, under licence of the Thieves' Guild of course, is a wealthy and reputable trade with a long history of tradition. As such, persons requiring such attire should easily be able to afford the extra $4.00 per yard.

Merchant clothing requires a certain air of wealth, without intruding upon the fashions set aside for nobility. This will cost you $5.00 per yard.

Gothic clothing is undeniably for the wealthy, and originated in Uberwald. It has spread since then, especially among pale teenagers living a life of leisure. Though not quite as noble as Noble, it is quite a bit more stylish than the Merchant cut, and usually indicates the wearer need not work for a living, even to afford the extra $6.00 per yard.

Noble clothing must have a certain grandeur to it that even the thickest of peasants will recognise, and make way for. Among the finest and fullest of the styles, this is well worth an extra $8.00 for the recognition you will get.

Royal clothing is traditionally worn only by those related to the monarch, however with the ousting of that particular tradition in Ankh-Morpork, it is now feasible for the more ambitious of the nobles to dress in this manner. At $10.00 per yard, it can be a costly distinction.

The options are: beggar / farmer / peasant / servant / woodsman / thief / mugger / prowler / safecracker / smuggler / cutpurse / soldier / riding / sailor / pirate / merchant / gothic / noble / royal

Pockets

For some items, Nicolette will ask if she should add pockets. The only options are yes and no, you cannot choose how many pockets there are.

Durability

Nicolette will ask if you want the item reinforced for extra durability, simply respond yes or no.

Temperature

Nicolette will ask if she should use a thicker or thinner material for extra or less warmth, responses are thicker / thinner / none. If you have ordered a silk item, she will only ask you if you want it thicker or not. In that case, responses are only yes / no. If you choose yes, it will provide warmth even in warm conditions, rather than cooling.

Colour

COLOURS
All of our colours are made from dyes gathered from throughout the disc. Some are common while others are rare, hence there can be quite a difference in price per yard of fabric they are used to dye.

At no additional cost, not dyeing your clothing is certainly the cheapest option.

Fit

FITS
5 basic fits are available, ranging from full to skin-tight. Obviously some cuts are more appropriate for some clothes and functions than others, however the option is yours.

The skin-tight cut leaves little to the imagination. This will conform to your body like a second skin. Due to a 50% reduction of the amount of material used, the material cost will be cut accordingly.

Snug garments also follow the shape of the body closely, however they leave a little more room to breathe, and a bit more to the imagination. This cut uses 25% less material than an average cut, hence it costs a bit less.

The average cut is unremarkable. It is neither tight nor loose, leaving plenty of room for unrestricted movement without using any extra fabric.

Loose garments feature extra material, hence the cost will increase to reflect the 25% extra material used when compared to the average cut.

The full cut is ideal for showing wealth to your peers, since it costs half as much again as the average cut. Very full and flowing, this cut is ideal for displaying your clothing to full advantage.

Lining will add half as much yardage as the main material, and the additional cost will be calculated accordingly.

For some items, Nicolette will ask what sort of fit you would like: full / loose / average / snug / skin-tight.

Trim

TRIMMINGS
Ribbon, Braid, Cord, and Lace, though sporting mild differences, are overall very much the same. Ribbon is a straight, flat strip of material. Braid is formed of 3 or more cords woven together. Cord is of a round shape. Lace is straight and flat, though woven with patterns, unlike ribbon. These cost between $2.00 and $4.00 per yardage of the main clothing material, depending on thickness.

Genuine pearls are available, imported from Agatea. Ranging in size between tiny and huge, they range in price between $1.00 and $5.00 per yard of fabric covered by them. They are placed at regular intervals throughout the garment.

Glass jewels are a cheap yet flashy adornment to most garments. At $.25 per yard, you can have our selection of ruby red, emerald green, sapphire blue, or diamond white decorating your clothing.

Genuine jewels include Topaz, Amethyst, Opals, Rubies, Emeralds, Sapphires, and Diamonds. These cost per yard $5.00, $10, $20, $35, $35, $40, and $50 respectively.

Tassels and metal studs are available as well, ranging in size from small to large, and accordingly priced between $.25 and $1 per yard.
