Discworld Skills

Magic.spells.special is a skill which affects various miscellaneous wizard and witch commands.

Uses

There are several things which can tm this skill, and which improve in some fashion at higher levels.

Circle

A witch's level in this skill determines how much witchy paraphernalia she needs in order to circle.

Focus tea

Higher levels in this skill improve the accuracy of information from using focus tea.

Scroll handling

This skill determines whether you can keep scrolls from escaping.

Spell capture

Attempting to capture escaped spells uses this skill.

Educing

Attempting to educe a spell or trick from a hag stone uses this skill.

The Hammered Cat

Navigating in The Hammered Cat in the Academy of Artificers requires this skill, although it is unknown whether it can tm it.

Other effects

The head space available to a magic user is their bonus in this skill, plus 30.

The ability to safely store and retrieve a staff elsewhere (see Crondor's Marvellous Sequestration) depends on this skill. Low levels may cause minor damage, loss of the staff or loss of an arm.
