First aid kits

The large, medium and small first aid kits are available from Rham-Taht Phoon in the temple of Glaxos in Ephebe.

They are containers for bandages from which you can pull a bandage or bandages, and which you can refill with more bandages.

  • While bandages are in the first aid kit they do not count as separate objects against container limits. So you can put more (not too heavy) items in the container, unless the weight goes over the limit of the container.
  • Using the bandage command with one in your inventory, or in a container identified as "component pouch" will cause you to pull a bandage from the kit automatically.
  • 80 bandages adds between 9 and 9 1/9lb of weight to the large kit, meaning each bandage is roughly 1/9 lb.
  • Weighing a bandage on the jeweller's balance in the Academy of Artificers in Sto Lat shows that a bandage weighs 50 g or 1/9 lb.
  • Strips of cloth torn from cotton clothing can weigh as little as 17.3 g, so if you use those instead of the bandages the kits come with, you can reduce the weight of the bandages by more than half.

There's also other related items:

  • The disposable bandage dispenser, that cannot be refilled.

Large first aid kit

This is a large steel box for keeping bandages in. Thinly-pressed Klatchian steel, to be specific, its famed hardness and strength entirely wasted on keeping bandages safe from impalement. Its cover has a glass window set into it, allowing anyone in need of a bandage to see how full it is. To keep the bandages dry and clean, the inner surface of the box is silver-plated and a thin strip of rubber has been laid down along the crack between its cover and its sides. A vertical red cross, the symbol of Glaxos, the God of Medicine, is embossed on the side.
It is about half full of bandages.
  • The large first aid kit is about a foot long and about nine inches wide. It is made of klatchian steel, silver and glass.
  • Cost: 2M 0de
  • Holds: 80 bandages
  • Empty weight: 1 3/9 lb
  • Full weight: 10 4/9 lb

Medium first aid kit

This is a medium-sized carved ivory box for keeping bandages in. Unfortunately, the elephant that the ivory previously belonged to is already far beyond the reach of first aid. Its cover has a glass window set into it, allowing anyone in need of a bandage to see how full it is. To keep the bandages dry and clean, the inside surface of the box has been lined with glossy white velvet and a thin strip of rubber has been laid down along the crack between its cover and its sides. A vertical red cross, the symbol of Glaxos, the God of Medicine, is carved and dyed on the side.
  • The medium first aid kit is about six inches long and about four inches wide. It is made of ivory, velvet and glass.

  • Holds: 40 bandages
  • Empty weight: 6/9 lb
  • Full weight: 5 3/9 lb

Small first aid kit

This is a small wooden box for keeping bandages in. Its cover has a glass window set into it, allowing anyone in need of a bandage to see how full it is. To keep the bandages dry and clean, both the inside and the outside surfaces of the box have been lacquered and a thin strip of rubber has been laid down along the crack between its cover and its sides. A vertical red cross, the symbol of Glaxos, the God of Medicine, is painted on the side.
It is about half full of bandages.
  • The small first aid kit is about four inches long and about three inches wide. It is made of wood and glass.
