Firecracker
From Discworld MUD Wiki
Firecrackers are used in the spell Calm Embrace of Illusionary Beauty. They can also be lit and optionally thrown to the ground.
Long description
This is a <size> red tube sporting a short fuse that you could probably light to see some entertaining effects. Holding it for too long after this is done is ill advised, though. It appears to have something written on it. You read the large firecracker: Written in small printed characters in Agatean: Made in HungHung
Acquisition
Huge, large, small, and tiny firecrackers can be bought at Gnaby Party Supplies.
Lighting them
A fire cracker takes around ten seconds to explode.
If you're carrying it when it explodes, you get this:
> light firecracker You light the <size> firecracker, which starts sizzling with yellow sparks. You should probably throw it to increase the effect. [time passes] Your <size> firecracker explodes in your hands! The room gets filled with a <size> yellow flash followed by a brief rain of sparks. Your face feels heavy with soot and you're sure your hair has been charred!
This doesn't do any damage, but does add a line to your description:
She has a heavy layer of soot covering her face, and her hair is charred and singed.
You can also throw it:
> light firecracker You light the <size> firecracker, which starts sizzling with white sparks. You should probably throw it to increase the effect. > throw firecracker You throw the <size> firecracker. A <size> firecracker explodes above you with a loud bang. The area gets filled with a <size> white flash and covered in a brief rain of sparks.
Finally, you can drop it:
> light firecracker You light the <size> firecracker, which starts sizzling with blue sparks. You should probably throw it to increase the effect. > drop firecracker You drop the <size> firecracker. [time passes] The <size> firecracker explodes. The room gets filled with a <size> blue flash followed by a brief rain of sparks.
The colour of the sparks and explosion seems to randomly be blue, white, or yellow.
