Escaped spells manifest as (rather dangerous) forms of energy that makes many chats and remain inside the room where the spell escaped.
The resulting energy forms can be captured.
Forms and colours
The form of the energy is based on the mind space occupied by the spell or trick. In order:
The colour depends on the type of the escaped spell. Tricks are considered to be misc spells.

Spells escaping from scrolls
Wizard spells seem to escape best when the spellsize and mindspace left are almost the same, ostensible because the less space left the harder it is to remember the spell.
This is what it looks like:

It is rather easy to have the spells escape when trying to educe them. Basically, even with a high bonus of magic.items.talisman it is nearly impossible to succeed educing a spell if you would have less than 5 mind space left after educing it.
When failing to educe, the hag stone might stay intact or it might explode.
Tricks escaping from large hag stones
Since tricks are all considered to be misc spells, they leave multicoloured energy.
Capturing escaped spells
It is possible to catch escaped spells and escaped tricks but the latter will not show up in the klein bottle once captured.
You then need to capture the escaped energy which will enter you into a fight with the energy which can be extremely dangerous since it uses some kind of energy attack that can bypass some shields and armour like other fire-like attacks. Furthermore, normal attacks don't harm them and they absorb spells targeted at them. Please note that you need to capture, not just attack, even if you do fight the escaped energy after doing so.
This goes as follows:
>hold net >hold bottle >capture sphere in bottle with net You attempt to capture the substantial sphere of energy. [You fight the orb until you pass a skillcheck, probably against fighting.melee.misc] You capture the substantial sphere of energy in your butterfly net and wrestle it into the Klein bottle.
Escaped energy cannot be caught if the klein bottle is open, you will just fight them.
Escaped energy do not follow opponents into other rooms.
Floaters do block normally, which can make this process somewhat less dangerous.
You can release the escaped spells trapped in a klein bottle by opening it but if you do some of the escaped spells return to the room and all the escaped energies of the room attack you.
Escaped spells or tricks only last about 10 minutes when loose in a room, before dissipating:
