To use a charred wand, hold it and 'zap <target> with wand' or 'zap wand at <target>'.
Charred wands are not commonly used, as it's often cheaper and quicker to find nearby public baths and use them to rid oneself of fleas.
However if you want to rid a npc of fleas this is your only option.
You zap Squinty Jeb with the charred wand. A wave of black specks jump, hop, scuttle, and crawl away from Squinty Jeb. Some of them appear to be on fire.
You recognise the charred wand to be a wand of infestation cleansing. This is a thinnish piece of wood, about two feet long, which has been charred at various points along its length. It still seems quite sturdy, though. It gives off a steady but dull octarine glow.
The charred wand is about two feet long and an inch wide. It is made of some unidentifiable material and could be used as a weapon of type mace.
Charred wands are sold in many magic item shops, including:
- Hobliet the Unnecessary's Linear Tools Shop in the Magical Supplies Emporium on Sator Square in Ankh-Morpork.
- The magic shop in Hillshire.
- Nora Bodgett's stall in Lancre Town.
Charred wands are moderately difficult to recharge.
This item comes pre-enchanted to "steady but dull".
