These are npcs that are part of an Agatean family.

They stay on the estate of their respective family, unless abducted or otherwise harmed by people up to no good (as part of missions for example).

The appearance of the npcs are recorded (hover over the npc name). This can give you a better idea of the families when choosing which family to join.

Fang Hong McSweeney Sung Tang
Lord  Lord Fang Tall and proud, Lord Fang holds court within this room. His well-practised gaze has the power to scatter intruders and send servants scurrying to do his bidding - or so he would like to believe. In fact, although Lord Fang has all the imperious presence befitting a noble lord, it seems somehow hollow. He exudes a nervous energy rather than a natural majesty, and it's possible that his entire personage, like his hair, is a well-crafted illusion. Still, whatever he may lack in substance is redeemed by his very real, very healthy bank account.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : a katana (left hand and right hand). Wearing : a pair of tabi, a pair of zori, a snarling tiger kimono, an elegant toupee and a Fang family crest. His purse is home to only moths!

Lord Hong The imperious presence of Lord Hong seems to radiate from the tall man standing here. Sleek lines define a face that stares haughtily and which is devoid of all emotion. Lord Hong's raven black hair is pulled back into a simple braid that cascades down his back. His eyes glow a fierce amber, their constant and darting watchfulness a trademark of the Hong's continuing rise in power. Lord Hong gives the impression of barely concealed fury and matches that impression with an iron fist, ruling all under his control.

He is in good shape. He is sitting in the ornate wooden chair. Wearing : a patterned white damask obi, a pair of tabi, a pair of zori, a Hong traditional kimono and a Hong family crest. His purse is home to only moths!

Lord McSweeney His lordship is a vibrant young man in his early thirties. He has ruffled, short black hair and bright blue eyes, a rarity in the Empire outside House McSweeney. He has a well-muscled back and chest, probably due to his great fondness of outdoor activities. He seems a very strong and down to earth young man, handsome in a seductively rough manner. The image is enforced by his carefully trimmed stubble. It is well known that all the female aristocrats fawn over the young lord. Apart from his strong sense of honour and will, he is somewhat unlike the other high lords in being impulsive and fiery in his passions and temper.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pair of high quality leather boots, a black check robe and a McSweeney family crest. His purse is home to only moths!

Lord Sung Before you stands Lord Sung, master of House Sung and a High Lord in the Empire. With his sloping forehead, his eagle-like nose and pronounced cheekbones, he is the very picture of an Imperial aristocrat. Long black hair, with only a few silvery wisps, is tied back into a stylish tail. From under his brow, the clear brown eyes of a wise and intelligent man gaze out onto the world. His hands are manicured to perfection.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pair of hard-soled tabi, a cobalt kimono, a hexagonally-linked kikko, a fish ring and a Sung family crest. His purse is home to only moths!

Lord Tang Lord Tang is ancient and imperious. He has so many wrinkles that he puts anybody that meets him in mind of an elderly tortoise. Despite his age and the apparent decline of the Tang estate, Lord Tang himself gives the impression of supreme control, and looks around with an air of self-confidence. This is impressive, as his gaze habitually takes in crumbling battlements, peeling paint and rats the size of small dogs.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a mottled green kimono and a Tang family crest. His purse is home to only moths!

Lady  Lady Fang Lady Fang was once a prosperous princess of much persuasion, but the years have worn heavily on her. Her time in the Fang household has not been an easy one due to, among other things, a lack of basic necessities such as dozens of handmaidens and solid platinum bathtubs. Her expression is a curious mixture of pride and panic, as if she knows that at any second the last of the family fortune could slip from between her fingers.

She is in good shape. She is standing. Wearing : a pair of tabi, a pair of geta, a black silk kimono and a Fang family crest. Her purse is home to only moths!

Lady Hong Looking very much like a tiny and perfectly painted doll, Lady Hong stands graceful and quiet. The Lady's poise and demeanour lend her for an obvious choice as the Lord Hong's silent partner. Elegance personified, her raven black hair is always the perfect representation of modern styles and her pale skin is always powdered. A small mole, in traditional Agatean style, adorns her right cheek. Lady Hong's smile is her only bit of strangeness, it seems always present and slightly forced.

She is in good shape. She is standing. Wearing : a pair of tabi, a pair of zori, a white silk kosode, a beribboned hairpin, a white obi and a Hong family crest. Her purse is home to only moths!

Lady McSweeney Fine eyebrows above captivating, pale blue eyes are framed by shoulder length, straight black hair. Lady McSweeney exudes an air of warmth and depth that most find irresistible. Unlike the dainty, porcelain doll-like figures of some Agatean ladies, Lady McSweeney has a healthy curvaceous figure and no need for layers and layers of Agatean make-up. Her round face and broad chin evoke a combined sense of strength and natural beauty unequaled within the Great Wall. A genuine smile always on her lips and a husky voice make her appreciated throughout high society as a fine hostess. Of course the McSweeneys' economic chokehold on the Empire may have something to do with it as well.

She is in good shape. She is standing. Wearing : a pair of lacy black sandals, a fine black and red qipao and a McSweeney family crest. Her purse is home to only moths!

Lady Sung Long black hair loosely surrounds the soft, feminine features of Lady Sung, as if she just awakened and furtively combed the satin-like locks. Her eyes are a deep brown, shining with happiness and something deeper, wiser. Her mouth is a shimmering, raspberry red and her cheeks are round and radiate an aura of joy. With her graceful features and statuesque bearing, she could have walked straight out of a masterwork painting.

She is in good shape. She is standing. Wearing : a pair of blue leather boots, a light blue dress, a fish ring and a Sung family crest. Carrying: a shiny wood carving. Her purse is home to only moths!

Lady Tang Lady Tang, unable to cope with the decline of her once great family, has descended into the darkest depths of poetry. Drifting around the estate, Lady Tang often wears a confused expression, and doesn't seem quite in contact with the present.

She is in good shape. She is standing. Wearing : a pair of gold-trimmed sandals, a black cherry silk kimono and a Tang family crest. Her purse is tinkling with coins.

Relatives  Lord Hong Jr Bringing shame to his great father wherever he goes, Lord Hong Junior presents an appalling view of Agatean nobility. Every child goes through phases but Junior, or Meresto as he likes to be called, is obsessed with all things dark, mysterious, and dead. With a constant dour look on his young face, he sulks around the Hong estates in dark clothing, usually with his long greasy black hair sloping across his pale and unhealthy face.

He is in good shape. He is standing. His face is pale and white, his lips are black and glossy and his fingernails are black and glossy. He appears to have fangs. Holding : a stiletto (left hand). Wearing : a pair of knee-high boots, a pair of black leather trousers, a black velvet cape, a black silk shirt, a small nose ring, a silver claw ring, a pair of vampire fangs, a silver skull pendant and a Hong family crest. His purse is tinkling with coins.

Lady Mother McSweeney The Lady Mother McSweeney is a woman of mature beauty, being in her early sixties and sprightly as ever. Her light brown hair has been loosely tied into a single braid hanging over her shoulder. Sparkling, clear brown eyes send a sense of mirth and enjoyment of life into the world. The dowager McSweeney is well loved by many for her merry frame of mind and her unequalled sense of etiquette. Even privately the peasant servants praise her charm, grace and friendly demeanour.

She is in good shape. She is standing. Holding : a pair of satsuki shears (left hand). Wearing : a pair of geta, a deep plum kimono and a McSweeney family crest. Her purse is tinkling with coins.

Young Lady Sung Young Lady Sung has a reputation for being calculating, strict, passionate and above all, impulsive. She wears her silky black hair up in a loose, seductive chignon.

Soft hints of violet eyeshadow above her femininely slanted eyes, combined with defined cheekbones, add to her authoritative appearance. Her tender lips are precisely painted in a light aubergine, the perfect mouth to kiss or hear orders bellowed from. She is in good shape. She is standing. Wearing : a pair of hard-soled tabi, a black silk qipao, a pair of fine pearl chopsticks, a cheap fish ring and a Sung family crest. Her purse is home to only moths!

Young Mr Tang This rather young and ambitious Tang doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of the family. He looks at everything with a calculating look in his eye, the kind of look which suggests that the world just better watch out. He is ambitious, ruthless, and not very pleasant to be around.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : a kaiken dirk (left hand). Wearing : a pair of gold-trimmed sandals, a white cotton kimono and a Tang family crest. His purse is bulging with coins.

Assassins  Shi Ni As a young lad, Shi Ni had always admired the ninja guild. Not for their strength or their cunning, but for their ability to wear as much pink embroidery as they wish without having to worry about the ensuing wedgie that would plague most other men. Now that he has made it to the top ranks of the Ninja guild himself, Shi Ni not only wears as much embroidery as he likes, he has also spent endless hours cultivating himself into the deadly man that stands here today. Despite his quirks, he is not to be taken lightly.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pair of zori, a pink embroidered kimono, a silver pinky ring, a katana scabbard, a silver hummingbird pin and a Fang family crest. His purse is home to only moths!

Wun Bad Apple Small, round, and red-faced, Wun-Bad-Apple is the preeminent ninja of the Hong household. He is loyal only to the Hong family and specifically to Lord Hong himself. Being a trusted advisor, as well as an exceedingly efficient protector, Wun Bad's reputation is that of a man not to be crossed. His shaved head glistens and is crowned by a short tuft of bristly brown hair. His small beady eyes constantly rove for any source of danger to his job or his charges. His only flaw is his failing eyesight.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pair of tortoiseshell glasses, a pair of tabi, a pair of zori, a black mail hauberk and a Hong family crest. His purse is tinkling with coins.

Korido Nirisun A strong looking man, Korido Nirisun has obviously been in a few battles going by the scars on his face. There is a sharp glint in his eye as if with a nod to the right person he could probably have your head removed. He obviously takes orders from someone high up and would only trust someone that knew the code of assassination. Not that he would dirty his hands with that; he has plenty of people to do that for him.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pair of tabi, a pair of geta, an Auriental fighting kimono and a McSweeney family crest. His purse is home to only moths!

Ooh Chu Yuan Ooh Chu Yuan is the foremost poet and philosopher of the city of Bes Pelargic. He has long grey hair reaching to halfway down his back, and a matching grey beard reaching to his waist. In a face wrinkled like a parched dirt desert, two bright brown eyes twinkle with the light of intellect. He has the bearing of an old and wizened sage, though with the soundless footsteps of a master of stealth. A strange smile touches his lips.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : a quill (left hand). Wearing : a pair of hard-soled tabi, a dark over-robe, a cheap fish ring and a Sung family crest. Carrying: a closed green notepad. His purse is home to only moths!

Dai Slo Li The old and wizened ninja stands tall as a mountain and lean as a willow branch. His hair is peppered with more than a fair dash of salt, a testament to his skills to be able to live into old age. His cold, steely grey eyes watch his prey like a hawk watching a mouse, ready to swoop down upon them in a flurry of pain.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pair of zori, a Tang family kimono, a katana scabbard and a Tang family crest. His purse is home to only moths!

Priests  Sevequii This young monk of the Fang household smiles enthusiastically, oozing an aura of sickening cheerfulness. His almond-shaped eyes twinkle merrily at those who seek instruction from him, and he looks poised to quip an encouraging phrase or pick-me-up.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pair of tabi, a pair of geta, a Fang family kimono and a Fang family crest. His purse is home to only moths!

Hukky The faith of Lord Hong is placed in Hukky and in turn Hukky places his faith in Sumo. This accumulation of faith does not simply cause an aura, rather the excess faith sloshes about the floor into small pools of holy evilness. Obviously most cannot see this phenomenon... rather just feel the effect - abject fear! His lined and wrinkled face holds none of the benevolence one would hope to see in a man of the cloth. Hands, permanently wringing, are just visible beneath his holy vestments, and likewise do nothing to warm you to his path.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : a bo (left hand and right hand). Wearing : a pair of gold-trimmed sandals, a sickly yellow robe, a mountain ring and a Hong family crest. His purse is tinkling with coins.

Old Kanetoki You see a hunched, elderly woman, with full cheeks and sagging skin. Her jaundiced visage is dotted with liver spots, visible upon her exposed face. She seems to be about as venerable as one can be without actually being an ancestor. Her eyes glint mischeviously, and they seem to be unusually sharp for a woman so old. She looks quite attentive, observing those who pass as though trying to size them up.

She is in good shape. She is standing. Wearing : a pair of tabi, a pair of geta, an apple red kimono and a McSweeney family crest. Her purse is home to only moths!

Huineng Master Huineng, master Neng to friends, is one of the more respected and elderly monks in Bes Pelargic. This tiny monk with his frail form, bald head and meditative expression does not in any way provoke a perceived threat. He is the sort of small, elderly religious man many come to like and respect. He has an amiable and semi-permanent smile on his lips and a sparkle in his eyes.

He is in good shape. He is standing. He is surrounded by the aroma of raw fish. Wearing : a saffron robe, a holy amulet and a Sung family crest. Carrying: a blue sea-shell, a prayer book and a holy symbol. His purse is home to only moths!

Oracle Sameibo Some claim the Oracle was born between man and goddess, the daughter of sea monsters and an immortal nymph. In actuality, her father is the owner of the squishi bar in the Bes Pelargic fish market and her mother is a calligraphy teacher. The Oracle was given her position in the Tang household when she was able to accurately predict a piece of blowfish was going to kill a maid servant of Lady Tang's.

She is in good shape. She is standing. She is wrapped in water buffalo hide. Wearing : a pair of zori, a black silk kimono, a holy amulet and a Tang family crest. Carrying: a holy relic, a prayer book and a holy symbol. Her purse is home to only moths!

Thieves  Cheng Jung The covert master of Lord Fang's men, Cheng Jung has been given the duty of training the Fang family spies in the covert arts. He is a powerfully built, medium-sized man, with a hooked nose and greying hair. Looking at him, you might make the mistake of thinking he is past his prime, but the gleam in his cruel black eyes suggests that to do so would be a bad idea.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : an aikuchi dagger (left hand) and an aikuchi dagger (right hand). Wearing : a pair of hard-soled tabi, a Fang family kimono, a padded aketon, a blue mandarin hat and a Fang family crest. His purse is home to only moths!

Fusairyusun Fusairyusun stands here looking every inch the real gentleman, though in reality he is a gentleman thief. Tall and lithe of limb he looks able to even charm a smile out of an Imperial Guard. His lightly tanned face is the perfect hue to portray the persona of an active outdoors type, without being too dark and looking the common field labourer. Soft eyes, ready to beguile the unwary, look furtively for every opportunity to advance the cause of his master, Lord Hong. Equally at home charming guests at the Ambassador's ball or creeping along a rooftop and always seemingly poised for fight or flight, this man is an enigma wrapped in the finest silk.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pair of red silk geta, a fine silk robe and a Hong family crest. His purse is home to only moths!

Kyuki Ruzarosun Legends say that a thief of humble beginnings will one day manage to steal the Ruby of Daikoku. Unfortunately this isn't that thief. Although she is skilful in the art of deception and quick fingers, she isn't the chosen one. Standing at around five foot three, she manages to blend in with most surroundings, which is a good thing for a thief. In semi-retirement she now helps the McSweeney family with the training of fellow thieves.

She is in good shape. She is standing. Wearing : a pair of black pumps, a black silk kosode and a McSweeney family crest. Her purse is home to only moths!

Ms Shasunisa Rich auburn hair flows around the shoulders of this brown-eyed beauty. A slender nose, thin, arched eyebrows and sensuous lips give her a graceful presence that almost outshines the threat she poses. Ms Shasunisa is one of the most renowned trainers of thieves in Bes Pelargic. It is rumoured that she is a fabled art thief who was finally caught one night in the Sung Estate trying to steal the famous bust of Lord Sung Woe Dann, shortly after which she joined the ranks of House Sung's teachers.

She is in good shape. She is standing. Wearing : a pair of black ankle boots, a black leather jumpsuit, a cheap fish ring and a Sung family crest.

Spymaster Lii Lii is a tall and lean man without an ounce of fat on his lanky body. Rumour has it that the spymaster was a pickpocket in his youth or even a smuggler. Of course, there is absolutely no evidence to this, possibly because anyone who has ever asked him has mysteriously disappeared.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pair of zori, a dark green robe and a Tang family crest.

Warriors  Captain Nong Charged with the duty of improving the image of the Fang family samurai at the behest of Lord Fang, Captain Nong himself is spearheading the movement by setting a stark example. A youthful face and enthusiastic attitude give this warrior an air of friendliness not common among the sword-wielding population of Bes Pelargic, although something about his expression seems to speak of honour and strict punishment. Gleaming hazel eyes sparkle almost harmlessly, but the manner in which he carries himself belies his extensive training and dedication to the art of combat.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : a steel-tempered katana (left hand and right hand). Wearing : a pair of tabi, a pair of geta, a pair of tekko guards, a keiko, a tiger's eye pendant and a Fang family crest. His purse is home to only moths!

Iruyas An honourable samurai of the Hong house, Iruyas is a strong and muscular middle-aged man. A severe face and demeanour give him an intimidating air, from his alert eyes to his neatly pointed moustache. His rounded face is pale, contrasting starkly with the deep black of his long hair which is gathered in the traditional top-knot of the samurai. Broad shoulders and a large amount of armour cause him to loom slightly, if unintentionally. He spends his days plotting glorious victories for the Noble House of Hong, preparing for any and all eventualities.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : a steel-tempered katana (left hand and right hand). Wearing : a pair of tabi, a pair of geta, a pair of suneate, a black silk fundoshi, a do maru, a spiked helmet and a Hong family crest. His purse is tinkling with coins.

Gorufujou Gorufujou, the captain of the McSweeney bodyguards, is a most imposing figure. He stands attentively and solidly in place, his broad shoulders looking as though they've been sculpted by many ages standing in doorways. His face is plain and unremarkable, his gaze set to the middle distance. He seems quieter than most of the other people hurrying around, strangely so.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : a bastard sword (left hand and right hand). Wearing : a pair of tabi, a pair of geta, a black check robe and a McSweeney family crest. His purse is home to only moths!

Moo Pei Moo Pei is the golden-skinned, hard-muscled and white-bearded head of the Sung family Samurai. His expression is dead serious and slightly bewildered - as if he can't quite comprehend why someone's just stumbled into his patch of the estate. A slight twitch in his squinted eyes, and hands which are clasped permanently behind his back, suggest that he may be struggling to restrain himself from a sudden violent outburst.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pair of zori, a pair of airy white cotton trousers and a Sung family crest. His purse is home to only moths!

Blind Wu Blind Wu often prowls around the Tang castle and grounds, peering into every corner despite being completely blind and slightly deaf. Blind Wu has been the head samurai of the Tang family for years, and even now, blind and almost deaf, he still takes it upon himself to train young Tang samurai. Unfortunately, due to his eyesight he has also trained several peasants and a rock.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : a crooked staff (left hand and right hand). Wearing : a Tang family kimono, a katana scabbard and a Tang family crest. His purse is home to only moths!

Witches  Lady Yaniwa Lady Yaniwa the witch stands here. She has a weary expression, an effect mostly attributable to her long years of serving as the head servant of the Fang family. Tall and proud with a pale complexion and the bearing and physical presence of a general, her movements are both economical and precise. There is nothing that encourages you to engage her in any conversation, other than necessity.

She is in good shape. She is standing. A small swarm of delicate lacewings is circling around her. Holding : a quill (left hand). Wearing : a pair of plain sandals, a formal robe, a medium satchel, a jagged crown, a dagger scabbard and a Fang family crest. Carrying: an open green notepad.

Yahani Yahani is the shadowy power behind the Warlord's command. A quiet word from her can relieve suffering for many, or equally cause death to visit any of the four corners of the Empire. Whilst her looks are undoubtedly striking, with her shaved head and hard, almost masculine face, she seems able to blend into the shadows at will. For those who study her, they soon discover a great understanding in her face yet no warmth.

She is in good shape. She is standing. A vast swarm of sickly white winged termites is circling about her. Holding : an old staff (left hand and right hand). Wearing : a pair of geta, a sombre blue robe, a light grey silk backpack, a silver ring and a Hong family crest. Carrying: a small label. Her purse is tinkling with coins.

Tue Fluffy Panda Tue Fluffy Panda sways before you, a rather podgy woman with a well-rounded bottom and a plump, purple face. Her only attractive quality is a set of sweet little dimples. Something about her soft gaze seems superficial - you can only imagine what growing up with a name like hers will do to a person, though she really looks more like an eggplant than a panda.

She is in good shape. She is standing. A vast swarm of sickly white winged termites is circling about her. Wearing : a pair of tabi, a pair of geta, a watery blue kimono, a light blue silk backpack and a McSweeney family crest. Her purse is home to only moths!

Miyatoka Miyatoka is the traditional and highly valued herbwoman of House Sung. She wanders the gardens and parks in a quiet and observant manner, moving with a surprisingly sinuous gait for her age. Long, undulating strands of deep chestnut brown hair frame an austere face with strong cheekbones and chin. Her delicate nose and fine, arched eyebrows could rank her with the harshest nobility, were it not for the compassionate and understanding look in her eyes.

She is in good shape. She is standing. A plague of tiny sandflies is bunched in the air around her. Holding : a silver sickle (left hand). Wearing : a pair of geta, a light blue dress, a white silk satchel and a Sung family crest. Carrying: a small knife, a pair of satsuki shears and a herb basket. Her purse is home to only moths!

Nanny Bugeha Short and squat, Nanny Bugeha resembles a teapot, but her weathered face does nothing to hide her stern disposition. With her long white hair neatly pulled back in a tight bun and kimono nicely pressed, she exudes an air of discipline and order. She is obviously a woman who tolerates no nonsense from anyone.

She is in good shape. She is standing. A small swarm of polychromatic dragonflies is rapidly swarming around her. Holding : a spoon (left hand). Wearing : a pair of zori, a black silk kimono, a black silk backpack and a Tang family crest. Her purse is tinkling with coins.

Wizards  Ko Harnen A master of magic, but a servant of the mighty Lord Fang, Ko Harnen is plainly not afraid to say "yes" to a second helping of dessert. Ko Harnen's reputation as one willing to use magic wisely to further his family's standing precedes him, but then, so does his belly. His fat face looks stretched to bursting point, the pink expanse only broken by a flat nose, thin red lips and small beady eyes - like currants in a bun. His almost white hair is cropped close to his head and with little ears of the most startling red playing host to a forest of white hairs; he seems to be of advanced years.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : an old staff (left hand and right hand). Wearing : a pair of black silk shoes, a grey robe, a large satchel and a Fang family crest. His purse is home to only moths!

Junuho House Astrologer Junuho is revered amongst the Hong for his wise counsel, arcane prowess and enormous appetite. Though wizened with age, his sorcery is stronger than ever. Well-versed in many magical styles, he is particularly committed to Ancient Agatean lore and refuses to teach foreigners. His trademark expression of irritation suggests that even Agateans would do well to watch their step.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : an old staff (left hand and right hand). Wearing : a pair of silver-framed spectacles, a pair of gold-trimmed sandals, an embroidered black robe, a large satchel and a Hong family crest. His purse is home to only moths!

Puna Gyodo Once a mighty wizard, now Puna Gyodo spends most of his time teaching and eating - it shows. His clothes barely fit him and they look as if they have been altered many times to suit his ample frame. A few crumbs of cake can be seen on his kimono; he must have just eaten.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : an old staff (left hand and right hand). Wearing : a pair of platinum-framed spectacles, a pair of worn out clogs, a large crimson kimono, a large satchel and a McSweeney family crest. His purse is home to only moths!

Deng Ming Doo Looking at Deng you could almost think the old sages of two hundred years ago come back alive. Classic, yet gnarled features mark a face of unknown old age. A wiry grey beard reaches down to his stomach, and long grey hair has been tied up into a neat, official hairdo typical of high officials of a noble house.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : a humble wooden calligraphy brush (left hand). Wearing : a pair of hard-soled tabi, a Sung family kimono, a padded aketon, a large satchel, a blue mandarin hat, a cheap fish ring and a Sung family crest. Carrying: a black ceramic ink jar and an old staff. His purse is home to only moths!

Nomeryu Tall and gaunt, Nomeryu looks like anything but the average wizard. In fact, she looks rather emaciated. Her skin is bone white and her long hair is midnight black. Overall, she looks more suited for a graveyard than a manor such as the Tang Estate.

She is in good shape. She is standing. Holding : an old staff (left hand and right hand). Wearing : a pair of zori, a magnificently ornamented velvet robe, a small backpack and a Tang family crest. Her purse is home to only moths!

Mission NPCs  Gyutoyaguni Though quite young, Gyutoyaguni has proven himself to be more than capable for the important and the complex task of assigning and controlling the duties of family members. Besides, nobody else seemed all that thrilled at the prospect of keeping track of all that paperwork. Also, and probably most importantly, he just looks good doing it.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pair of expensive zori, a pair of black cotton gi pants, a short grey robe, a ribboned katana scabbard and a Fang family crest. His purse is home to only moths!

Gizobehana After years of serving the Hongs as a faithful general Gizobehana is now tasked with controlling the missions of family members. He will still on occasion impart his knowledge to those willing to listen.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pair of hard leather boots, a deep crimson robe and a Hong family crest. His purse is tinkling with coins.

Sukokkoi This old sage exudes an air of mystery, intrigue, and at first glance, danger. Only after looking closer at his face do you realise that he is smiling, and is quite jovial, as if he is laughing at a joke only he knows. His long white beard and moustache flow down, nearly touching the floor, and his eyes are completely obscured by his simple straw hat.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : an old worn cane (left hand). Wearing : a pair of zori, a black check robe, a large straw hat and a McSweeney family crest. His purse is home to only moths!

Kunaikuka Kunaikuka treats his current position in the family with disdain. Why be involved with the mundane matters of task management, when one can be exploring the mysteries of the universe through the appreciation of art?

He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pair of hard leather boots, a deep cobalt robe and a Sung family crest. His purse is home to only moths!

Hatayagainoro Like most of the Tangs, Hatayagainoro has seen better days. He fondly remembers sitting on his father's lap as a child, while he was regaled with tales of the grandeur of the Tangs. Now however he must get by with what he can, dishing out assignments to vassals that would not have been let in the door in former days.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pair of zori, a dark green robe and a Tang family crest. His purse is home to only moths!

Cook / Chef  Yu Ten Sil He was schooled in the most renowned kitchens of the Golden Empire. He has impressed the Emperor with his fine fare. He is world famous in the parts of the world that matter. Now, after years of working for the Fangs, he's on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Every night the Fangs expect masterpieces, but refuse to fork over the Rhinu to buy quality ingredients. On more than one occasion, Yu has pulled out his hair after being forced to use rice as a meat substitute.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pair of tabi, a pair of zori, a black spiral kimono and a Fang family crest.

Shabu-Shabu A large man, sweaty and glistening, exudes the moniker "Master Chef". Standing tall and wide, Shabu-Shabu earns his wage as the chef to Lord Hong's demanding tastebuds. He is totally hairless, except for a long drooping moustache and wispy eyebrows, and streaming with sweat. His huge muscular frame does not seem to be ideal for a chef of his calibre. However, Shabu has an air of constant care and culinary mastery hanging over him like the steam from his ovens.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : a meat cleaver (left hand). Wearing : a pair of zori, a pair of creased cotton trousers and a Hong family crest.

Cookie This is the head chef, lord and master of the McSweeney estate kitchens. He is big, tall and ugly, with a face scarred by years of slaving over a hot wok. His main tasks these days are supervising his army of underlings (mostly by yelling) and adding the finishing touches to all the dishes prepared. His own speciality is sweetmeats.

Ren Wa Young Ren Wa is the kitchen boy in the Sung Estate. He is a dreamy young boy with straggly hair and the scruffy beginnings of a moustache. Bright green eyes look upon the world with wonder and a certain hint of naivete, while he has the hands of a fine artist. Ren Wa carries himself with the surprised wonder at life that only painters and children can achieve.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : a ladle (left hand). Wearing : a pair of geta, a white cotton kimono, a cheap fish ring and a Sung family crest.

Family inhume office  serious young woman This is the secretary of the Fang family, whose movements are graceful and precise as she goes about her duties. Her eyes dance around the room, never seeming to stay on one spot for more than a few seconds. Her stance and movements suggest that getting on her bad side would not be a good idea if you want to live for more than a few seconds.

She is in good shape. She is standing. Wearing : a pair of tabi, a Fang family kimono, a black ninja mask and a Fang family crest.

She is in good shape. She is standing. Wearing : a pair of tabi, a pale kimono and a Hong family crest.

scowling young woman This frowning young woman's eyes dance around the room, never seeming to alight on one spot for more than a few heartbeats. It is obvious from her stance and movements that she is a trained Ninja.

She is in good shape. She is standing. Wearing : a pair of tabi, a sunny yellow kimono and a Sung family crest.

quiet young woman This is the secretary of the Tang family, whose movements are graceful and precise as she goes about her job, which is making sure that all the enemies of the family are discreetly eliminated. Her eyes dance round the room, never seeming to stay on one spot for more than a few seconds. Her stance and movements suggest that getting on her bad side would not be a good idea if you want to live for more than a few seconds.

She is in good shape. She is standing. Wearing : a pair of tabi, a pale kimono, a black ninja mask and a Tang family crest.

Guard  Fang family guard The Fang family guards are trained rigorously in the art of Deja Fu fighting whilst humming a theme song. They bear themselves with a certain arrogance and casual swagger that only those convinced of their own coolness possess. The Fangs use their Family guards mostly to divert unwelcome guests from the Pagoda to the Flog Course, where things are settled the Fang way.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : a katana (left hand and right hand). Wearing : a pair of knee-high boots, a pair of N'ai Kee silk trousers, a short grey robe and a Fang family crest.

Hong family guard As impeccably dressed as the Hong Family Guards are, there is a certain looming aura around them. The sort one only finds in anonymous security forces employed by old aristocracy and highest management. The Hong Family Guards are specially selected by Lady Hong on such features as dress sense, personal hygiene, lack of mercy and the ability to kill a man with their pinky without getting stains on their clothes, the furniture or the carpets.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : a katana (left hand and right hand). Wearing : a pair of knee-high boots, a deep crimson robe and a Hong family crest.

McSweeney family guard Clad in their tartans the McSweeney Family Guard is recognisable throughout the Empire and feared equally so. No member of the public will not be fearful of the consequences of angering one of these elite Family Guards. Not only are they laboriously trained in the martial arts to defend their masters and their commercial interests, they are equally harshly trained in the managerial arts of hostile buy-outs and take-overs. Should one come on the wrong side of the McSweeney, one might easily find themselves bankrupt.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : a katana (left hand and right hand). Wearing : a pair of knee-high boots, a black check robe and a McSweeney family crest.

Sung family guard The Sung Family Guards are lean and gracious, trained not only in the arts of dance and martial combat, but also in the finer arts such as calligraphy, singing and poetry. These refined gentlemen guard the Sung Estate grounds and all its occupants. Calm, serene, forceful when needed and at all times mannered, the Family Guard have served House Sung well in its history.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : a katana (left hand and right hand). Wearing : a pair of knee-high boots, a deep cobalt robe and a Sung family crest.

Tang family guard The fabled Tang Family Guards are known for their superstitious nature and belief in anything mystical. Often seeming to be closer to traditional wandering monks than to samurai, the Tang Family Guards are prized not only for their keen martial prowess but for their wise insights and sense of propriety.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : a katana (left hand and right hand). Wearing : a pair of knee-high boots, a dark green robe and a Tang family crest.

Other named  Groundskeeper Wy Li Preceded by a smell nearly as combustible as his personality, Groundskeeper Wy Li makes his rounds of the flog course every day. It's through his efforts that the greens stay green and the roughs stay rough. The heavy, burnt smell of old fertiliser hangs from his hair, which has turned an odd shade of orange. He never misses an opportunity to kill a gopher, and he calls everyone "laddy".

He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : a rake (left hand and right hand). Wearing : a pair of tabi, a pair of geta, a Fang family kimono and a Fang family crest.
The Cad There is nothing like a good round of flog after a hard day of playing flog. The Cad is Lord Fang's official overseer of torture and entertainment. He's the one who makes sure that the water hazards are truly hazardous and that nobody escapes the sand traps. He is, as they say, not from these parts. He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pair of tabi, a pair of leather sandals, a black chequered kimono and a Fang family crest. His purse is home to only moths!

Mrs McHenry Standing quietly with a slightly impatient look on her face, Mrs McHenry appears to be a force to be reckoned with. Despite her simple elderly surface, she has travelled extensively, finding Bes Pelargic late in her life and settling down here. The Hong family has employed her for several years as their house torturer, a position much envied by her friends. Despite her advancing years, she is a sprightly character with a spring in her step and a bit of a nasty streak. If she starts talking about knitting, it's best to run.

She is in good shape. She is standing. Holding : a crochet hook (left hand) and a crochet hook (right hand). Wearing : thick black socks that can kick through walls, a light pair of hobnailed boots, a flowery dress, a colourful lace shawl and a Hong family crest.

Groundsmaster Woh Li A true McSweeney, Woh Li stands at over six feet tall and looks very proud of his upbringing. His eyes burn with an anger for anyone that opposes his decision about the way the grounds are kept. Even his Lordship would never argue with him. His red beard only serves to make him look even angrier. He has a reputation for running naked through the gardens at night, but it is just a rumour really.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pair of platinum-framed spectacles, a pair of worn out clogs, a black silk fundoshi and a McSweeney family crest. His purse is home to only moths!
Lord Kang A pudgy face smiles out unto the world with such merriness and aristocratic fervour that most cannot help but like Lord Angus Nashiri Tomuta Kang, the age old neighbour and family friend of the McSweeneys. His head is mostly balding, yet some short, grey-white hair remains. Though of a lesser House, his accent is formidably high schooled, yet his attitude is always down to earth and openly friendly. His chubby form and hearty laugh make him a welcome and frequent guest at the estate. He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pair of silvery boots, a cloudy grey kimono and a McSweeney family crest. His purse is home to only moths!

Sung Moh Nae Moh Nae is the young house painter of the Sungs; that is, he is an artist that makes paintings, he does not paint the house. Young Moh is a dreamy man with a long, black

bushy beard and a sharp, yet also distant look in his deep brown eyes. His beard has been worked into two braids with colourful ties at the ends. He certainly looks like any other upperclass master artist with his worn clothing covered in paint. He has blue and green stained hands and a constant urge to make a quick sketch. He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pair of geta, a pair of worn cotton trousers, a white linen shirt, a black silk cravat, a black beret, a cheap fish ring and a Sung family crest. Carrying: a small easel and a camel hair brush. His purse is tinkling with coins.
Tree Solid Frogs Fine eyebrows arc high on this soft and refined face, suggesting that here is a man who has spent a lifetime staring down upon artworks and lesser craftsmen alike, appraising them. An enigmatically thin and delicate moustache hangs from his lips past even the well groomed and shimmering goatee. His hands look strong and nimble, worn from long hours working clay. They also appear to have many blue smudges on them. He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pair of geta, a pair of dark blue shamfu trousers, a dark blue shamfu shirt and a Sung family crest. His purse is home to only moths!

Hugo Tang The tall figure of Hugo Tang cuts quite the decrepit silhouette. His hair is ratty and seems either wet or greasy, his eyes twitch and squint constantly, and his lanky bones seem ready to pierce his frail, white skin. And he has simply dreadful posture.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : a splintered oar (left hand). Wearing : a speckled green kimono and a Tang family crest. His purse is home to only moths!

Other unnamed  young attendant It is honourable indeed to be employed as the personal attendant of one of the most powerful women in the Empire. This pretty young woman takes her duties seriously and performs them with quiet, perfect dignity.

She is in good shape. She is standing. Wearing : a pair of tabi, a pair of geta, a black floral kimono and a Fang family crest.
loyal manservant Every Lord needs a trusty manservant to act as sidekick and confidant and this one looks as though he's been privy to way too many nasty secrets. His face is screwed into a permanent grimace and his hands shake at the apprehension of hearing yet another disturbing tale from the Flog Course. His hair is perfect. He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pair of tabi, a pair of zori, a black silk kimono and a Fang family crest.
bored Fang doorman The most important part of being a doorman is pretending to care about your job. Especially when you work for the Fangs and your salary isn't quite as good as, say, the Hongs or McSweeneys or, for that matter, any of the families in Bes Pelargic. This guy could have gotten a job with any of them. He's built like a brick outhouse and just as smart. He doesn't really seem to care who comes or goes but don't let that fool you. You don't want to tangle with this guy. He is in good shape. He is idly watching the gate. Holding : a jiann (left hand). Wearing : a pair of geta, a pair of blue pyjama bottoms, a keiko and a Fang family crest.

<adjective> gardener A simple gardener living in a simple world. These dedicated men work tirelessly for the Hong estates, tending the multitude of plants, trees, and gardens that populate the estate grounds. All of the gardening staff is completely overworked due to Lord Hong's obsession with keeping a tidy estate.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : a rake (left hand and right hand). Wearing : a pair of geta, a pair of beige pyjama bottoms, a beige pyjama top and a Hong family crest. His purse is home to only moths!
<adjective> servant This bowed woman serves the Hong household with faith and forbearance. The Hong estate employs a number of these quiet and downtrodden workers. At minimal pay and massive work projects, the servant has a constantly worried expression, making her apparent age impossible to guess. She is in good shape. She is standing. Her left wrist has a stylized Hong crest tattooed on it. Wearing : a pair of geta, a pair of beige pyjama bottoms, a beige pyjama top and a Hong family crest. Her purse is home to only moths!
<adjective> accountant This young man handles the finances and all of their "special" handling for the Hong family. His constant squint isn't in distaste but rather from continuous peering at convoluted numbers and formulas. Despite the bad eyesight, he is rather well-kept and clean except for a small touch of ink around the finger tips. Certainly not the type of person you want to mention numbers around. He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : a quill (left hand). Wearing : a pair of octagonal tortoiseshell glasses, a pair of geta, a thick black silk kimono, a black pyjama top and a Hong family crest. Carrying: an abacus. His purse is home to only moths!

voluminous guard This large and voluptuous woman stands guard against the threat of male hordes overtaking the women's quarters. She is quite above average height and has long hair in deep shades of red. Dark and clear brown eyes sparkle slightly above her fine nose. She seems a very intelligent and strong woman.

She is in good shape. She is standing. Wearing : a pair of lacy black sandals, a black check robe and a McSweeney family crest.
keen guard This keen, experienced man has the observant look of a city watch veteran. In his early forties, he seems not only strong and lean of body but especially forceful of mind. One look is enough for most to tell them that this man will brook no nonsense. He is a man who knows all about the Code but insists on being intelligent and vigilant anyway. He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pair of knee-high boots, a black check robe and a McSweeney family crest.
chef This is one of the many underchefs of the estate, who do most of the actual work in the kitchens, under the direct supervision of the head chef. He is a small, harassed-looking man and like most chefs, has a very short temper. He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : a frying pan (left hand). Wearing : a pair of geta, a pair of ash grey trousers, an ash grey shirt and a McSweeney family crest.
<adjective> gardener This is one of the many gardeners on the estate. He is a little wrinkled old man, who seems to be sweating constantly as he works his way round the gardens. He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : a rake (left hand and right hand). Wearing : a pair of tabi, a pair of zori, a brown robe and a McSweeney family crest.
sword dancer The dancer is a young, energetic man, with long, dark hair pulled back into a pony tail. His one desire in life is to master the ancient art of sword dancing, a tradition peculiar to the McSweeney family - even down to adopting an old, almost forgotten dialect to go with it. Despite constant practice however, he can never get the intricate steps right, as the network of scars on his feet proves. He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : a katana (left hand) and a katana (right hand). Wearing : a leather kilt, a leather jerkin and a McSweeney family crest.
large grassy gnoll A hulking lump of animate stone, covered in grass, the gnoll tries to remain inconspicuous, to look like a part of the landscape. Unfortunately for it, a seven-foot hillock carrying a giant sword is incredibly hard to miss. It is in good shape. It is standing. Holding : a bastard sword (left hand and right hand). Carrying: a large crossbow.
maid This is one of the horde of servants who serve the McSweeney family. Most of them are born on the estate and rarely leave it. Like all good Agatean servants, they are obedient, self-effacing and practically invisible to the family. She is in good shape. She is standing. Wearing : a pair of tabi, a pair of zori, a brown robe and a McSweeney family crest.
kitchen boy This is one of the many kitchen boys on the estate, the lowest in the strict kitchen hierarchy. He is a general dogsbody, doing the most menial tasks - sweeping, washing, peeling and so on. However he gets to stay warm and relatively well fed, which is more than most. He is in good shape. He is standing. Holding : a push broom (left hand). Wearing : a pair of peasant trousers, a simple peasant shirt and a McSweeney family crest.
dumb waiter This is the waiter whose job it is to carry food up from the kitchens to the hall above. He looks permanently lost and confused and in general is not particularly bright - in fact one could go so far as to say he was pretty dumb. He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pair of geta, a pair of ash grey trousers, a white apron, an ash grey shirt and a McSweeney family crest.
self-important valet The valet is tall, thin and dressed entirely in black. His face wears an almost permanent look of disapproval at everyone and everything except Lord McSweeney, to whom he is devoted. He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pair of tabi, a pair of zori, a pair of black shamfu trousers, a black shamfu shirt and a McSweeney family crest.
groom This is one of the grooms who look after the estate's stable of horses. Like most grooms he is small, bandy-legged and much more interested in horses than humans. He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pair of old muddy wellies, a pair of peasant trousers, a simple peasant shirt and a McSweeney family crest.
squeaky eunuch The eunuch has sharp beady eyes set in an otherwise baby-smooth face. Despite the childish look, there is a definite impression of muscle underneath its exterior. It is in good shape. It is standing. Wearing : a pair of tabi, a pair of zori, a pair of ash grey trousers, an ash grey shirt and a McSweeney family crest.

vacant maid This maid stares blankly into space, vacant and seemingly uninterested in her surroundings. She dusts and cleans in an almost mechanical fashion, and one might think that she was a golem, were it not for the fact that she isn't made of clay.

She is in good shape. She is standing. Wearing : a pair of geta, a ragged green robe and a Tang family crest.

Pets  Dekko the Fang family dog This small wire-haired terrier is quite sickly in his dotage. His black hair is patchy in places and old, grey skin shines through. A small purplish tongue hangs from a mouth reeking of rotting teeth and ancient doggy breath. The poor thing is on his last legs, but due to the love of the Fang family, little Dekko will probably not receive an honourable death. Instead, he whiles away the long hours of the day sleeping and blindly attacking the occasional leg.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pet collar.

Zanshin the Hong family hawk Zanshin is an elusive Agatean term that implies giving one's full heart to a battle. It is surrounded with much mysticism and a code of honour. It is not surprising that the Hong family has named their precious Hawk the same. A majestic bird of brown and dark golds, it stands to the waist of most men and its beautiful wings stretch massively. Steely eyes that hold strength and determination survey all that it sees.

He is in good shape. He is perched here.

Claris the cow Despite being higly well-respected, the McSweeney clan may not be considered the most typical of the Bes Pelargic families. Claris the cow doesn't wander far from her family's reputation. Whilst beautiful and undoubtedly cared for, she just extends the mystery surrounding the McSweeney family. A noble beast, especially for a cow, her flanks are solid and she has the look of a well-fed and contented creature. However, she looks extremely tired for some reason.

She is in good shape. She is standing.
Myodo the falcon Myodo has been bred specifically with the Lady McSweeney in mind. The colouring of her body is a brilliant white with small black speckles around her wings. Her beak is razor sharp and her eyes piercing. The breeders that created this bird must have taken years and years to perfect the colour, or lack of it. Unlike her partner Tobon, Myodo doesn't enjoy eating frogs but prefers bugs and small fuzzy animals. She is in good shape. She is perched here.
Tobon the hawk Tobon is the only hawk that was deemed good enough to become his Lordship's prized hunting hawk. The shoulders are a rusty red with white barrings on the wings. The underparts are also rusty and banded with a white colour, speckled with black. His beak is sharp enough to tear through any small animal that gets in his way. As always with hawks his eyes are piercing, but this hawk seems to have a glow around them. Frogs and small animals had better watch out when he is out on the hunt. He is in good shape. He is perched here.
goat This sure-footed, brown-grey and bearded mammal is as domesticated as they come. Its benevolent nature belies an air of quiet confidence and extraordinary agility. She is in good shape. She is in the goat pen.

Su Su the Sung family peacock Strutting around in obvious grandeur is a beautiful specimen of a male peacock. The Sung family keeps Su Su, as he is called, in the best feed and the best care. The Lady Sung regards her pet with love and devotion and would be very disappointed if anything happened to him. The bird however, probably cares less. Su Su, while a beautiful bird, has that obvious look of birdy disdain.

He is in good shape. He is standing.

Tekizaryumyu the dog of the Tangs Much like most of the Tang's possessions, their dogs are rather worn down. Tekizaryumyu looks much like his brother Jikigo-Haheme but only insofar as looking like a scruffy mutt. A various assortment of colours and smells, this overly big dog is as stupid as they come. Much like his brother, Teki spends his days running after invisible intruders, wetting himself, and inappropriately displaying affection. His right ear is noticeably bigger than the other.

He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pet collar.
Jikigo-Haheme the dog of the Tangs Much like most of the Tang's possessions, their dogs aren't much better. Jikigo-Haheme looks much like his brother Tekizaryumyu but only insofar as looking like a scruffy mutt. A various assortment of colours and smells, this overly big dog is as stupid as they come. Much like his brother, he spends his days running after invisible intruders, wetting himself, and inappropriately displaying affection. His left ear is noticeably bigger than the other. He is in good shape. He is standing. Wearing : a pet collar.
elderly peacock This aged peacock is the one and only survivor of the Tangs' once impressive collection of animals. After the families' descent into harder times, the peacock's entire harem of females was flogged to some lower nobility. As the peacock has now become demented, he hasn't noticed this yet. On warm days he can be seen frantically waddling around the garden, looking for one of his mates. To the Tangs' dismay this has led to some unfortunate accidents with their guests. As a House is supposed to have at least one peacock, they have learned to overlook this. It is in good shape. It is standing.

Fang Hong McSweeney Sung Tang

Npcs who are the same for all families:

  •  <adjective> geisha This is <a/an> <adjective> geisha, trained in many time-honoured Agatean arts - from pouring sake and tea to dancing and singing. Her dark hair is mounted upon her head in a large, complicated bun and her face is obscured by makeup that gives her the appearance of being expressionless, like a Noh actor.

She is in good shape. She is standing. Her face has been powdered a pale off-white colour, while her lips have been dyed a vibrant shade of <colour>. Holding : a tin shakuhachi (left hand). Wearing : a pair of tabi, a pair of geta, an aquamarine kimono and a <family> family crest.
