Wormcommands

From Discworld MUD Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

Wormcommands are commands granted by the Worm Sword while you hold it if you have trained it enough by killing a number of things while holding it. The kill only counts if the Worm Sword reacts to it.

You have to be holding the Worm Sword for any of the commands to work and if they produce an effect (glowworm) you need to keep holding it for the effect to continue.

The targeted commands only accept player characters as targets except for wormwave and wormseye.

Excepting wormcommands (displays the available commands to you) and earthworm (combat special attack), all the worm commands display text to you and the target. These messages are all static (except for the names of the sender and receiver) except for wormmail that allows you to send a message and wormwave which allows you to send the short name of an object in your inventory.

When wormseye fails (because the target is a generic name) or after using earthworm you need to wait some time before you can do that action again, meanwhile you'll see:

You have worn your worm out!

Wormcommands

This command is available after 5 kills.

The most basic of the commands, it simply lists what commands (including itself) that your worm knows that you can ask the worm sword to perform.

Your worm currently offers you the following commands: earthworm, wormseye, fireworm, wormwave, glowworm, wormwag, wormtime, undermine, wormmail, wormwhack, wormgiggle, hugeworm and wormcommands

Wormmail

When used it sends the message you select as below:

You snap your fingers. A little pink earthworm pops out of the ground, and you whisper to it before sending it on its way.

Others in the sender's room see:

Frazyl snaps her fingers. A little pink earthworm pops out of the ground, and Frazyl whispers to it before sending it on its way.

The target sees:

A little pink earthworm messenger from Frazyl pops out of the ground and whispers to you: 'This is a message!'

Others in the target's room see:

A little pink earthworm messenger pops out of the ground and whispers something to Pious Ilde.

Undermine

This command is available after 61 kills.

When used it sends the text below:

The sender sees:

You send out a Worm Mining Contract on Pious Ilde.

The target sees:

Millions of little pink worms undermine the ground beneath your feet!
You fall into a deep dark cavern.
Literate Frazyl sends out a Worm Mining Contract on you.

Others in the target's room see:

Millions of little pink worms undermine the ground beneath Pious Ilde's feet!
Pious Ilde tumbles down into a deep, dark cavern.

Wormtime

This command is available after 91 kills.

When used it sends the text below:

The sender sees:

You send out a Worm Resurgence Contract on Pious Ilde.

The target sees:

The entire area around you suddenly fills with little pink earthworms who shout in unison: 'The Worms are Coming!!', before vanishing again as quickly as they appeared.
Literate Frazyl sends out a Worm Resurgence Contract on you.

Wormwag

This command is available after 121 kills.

When used it sends the text below:

The sender sees:

You send out a Wag Worm Contract on Pious Ilde.

The target sees:

A huge black worm wearing a leather corset bursts out of the ground at your feet, wags its tail at you, then disappears underground.
Literate Frazyl sends out a Wag Worm Contract on you.

Glowworm

This command is available after 151 kills.

When used it makes the worm sword a light source.

The holder sees:

You mutter some words to your worm, and grin as it starts to glow.

Others in the holder's room see:

Literate Frazyl mutters some words to her worm, and grins as it starts to glow.

As a result, the worm becomes a light source:

The Worm Sword produces quite a bit of light.

It stops being a light source when you stop holding it.

Wormwave

This command is available after 191 kills.

This command can be used on arbitrary npcs including those with generic names. It is unclear what happens when used with generic names.  research If this has been marked on a page, it's because there was something that probably isn't known, that the person who edited the page thinks could be found out. Perhaps you could figure this thing out, and be famous evermore.

When used it sends the text below that includes the short name of the object from your inventory passed as argument to the command:

The sender sees: (with broomstick as the item)

You snap your fingers. A little pink earthworm pops out of the ground, and you show a broomstick to it before sending it on its way.

Others in the sender's room see:

Frazyl snaps her fingers. A little pink earthworm pops out of the ground, and Frazyl shows a broomstick to it before sending it on its way.

The target sees:

A little pink earthworm messenger from Frazyl pops out of the ground and waves a broomstick in front of your face before vanishing again.

Others in the target's room see:

A little pink earthworm messenger pops out of the ground and waves something in front of Pious Ilde.

It is possible that in the past this command allowed the user to send items instead of just its short name.

Fireworm

This command is available after 231 kills.

When used it sends the text below:

The sender sees:

You send out a Fire Worm Contract on Pious Ilde.

The target sees:

Thousands of flaming worms swoop from the sky and incinerate you!
Literate Frazyl sends out a Fire Worm Contract on you.

Wormseye

This command is available after 281 kills.

When used it sends a small worm to spy on the target. Sadly, the worm has no eyes so it only reports back darkness. Furthermore, the target knows who sent it. All in all the small worm is a poor spy.

This command can not only be used on players but also npcs, with the same lack of sight. Trying to target generic npc names exhausts the worm sword which makes the command fail a few seconds before it can be used again.

The sender sees:

You send a worm on a mission:
A vision appears in front of you for a second - you see:
It's all dark in here!

Others in the sender's room see:

Frazyl studies her worm.

The target sees:

A small worm pops its head out of the ground beneath your feet, fails to scan your surroundings (it has no eyes), and disappears to report back to Frazyl.

Note: This was formerly a scrying method, but the scrying aspect was taken out along with the worm's eyes.

Earthworm

This command is available after 601 kills.

It can be used in combat as a special attack against something you are fighting.

The user sees for example:

You stroke your worm with warm and loving tenderness.
You excite the worm sword into a frenzy!
Your Worm Sword twists itself into an arcane symbol. A million and one HUGE worms jump out of the ground, swarm all over the nervous fawn, and eat it alive.

(or for failure)

You stroke your worm with warm and loving tenderness.
As the combat worms begin their attack, the red meadowhawk drives them off and remains unscathed.
Your Worm Sword twists itself into a wobbly arcane symbol. A dozen small worms pop their heads out of the ground and titter at the red meadowhawk but he deftly dodges out of the way.

Others in the room see:

Literate Frazyl strokes the Worm Sword with warm and loving tenderness.
Literate Frazyl excites the worm sword into a frenzy!
Her Worm Sword twists itself into an arcane symbol. A million and one HUGE worms jump out of the ground, swarm all over the nervous fawn, and eat it alive.

The ending line changes depending on the strength of the attacks. There can be more or less worms and what they do also scales depending on the percentage of hp they take from the target.

Note that the arcane symbol attack is used in normal combat, it is not exclusive to the earthworm command.
