Despite this hammer's weight, designed to lend crushing force to a cavalryman's blow, it almost soars in the hand. The <head material> striking face is perfectly flat, and the <shape> neck leads back to flat shield-shaped sides and a spiked finial. At the back, a <counterbalance> counterbalances the hammer head perfectly, and two studded straps of <head material> protect the top of the <haft material> haft when parrying a blow.
Despite this hammer's hefty weight, designed to crush shields and crumple armour, it almost soars in the hand. At the back, a <counterbalance> counterbalances the hammer head perfectly, and two long studded straps of <head material> protect the top of the <haft material> haft when parrying a blow.
This is the appraise for a horseman's hammer; a footman's hammer should theoretically be longer. Research welcome.
The <descriptive name> war hammer is about two feet long and nine inches wide. It is made of <material> and could be used as a weapon of type mace.
May be ordered from Rowena McClannachy at the Lancre Highland Regiment, in Lancre Town on the eastern side in the warriors guild smithy, by saying 'order' to her in Morporkian. You collect by saying 'collect' to her, also in Morporkian.
It should be noted that Rowena lies about the build time for the hammer, in the sense that the time she tells you is your time, not her time - meaning Roundworld time, not Discworld time. So e.g. if she says 2 days on Sektober 1, the hammer will *not* be done on Sektober 3; instead, you need to wait 48 hours real time (this is always more than 48 hours disc time). Rowena's estimates are therefore always strictly less than the actual time it will take.
The cheapest hammer yet tested is horseman's light bronze round plain knob oak, which costs LC 9.
The most expensive yet tested is footman's heavy silver round ornate knob oak, which costs LSov 6|5|6.
The following hammer costs LSov 4|2: footman's light silver round spike oak
