Royal Art Museum

Making pottery

  • Each mould, stain, or glaze has several tiers of success. The highest-level outcome isn't always the most artistic, so testing is required.
  • You can use multiple colors for those stains that require multiple stages.
  • The stain command has a separate staining and design skill-check.
  • I usually have players choose the main (glaze) color of the item first.
  • Most items require visiting two or more pottery workshops, since each location has a different set of available options.

I can make flute-blowpipes too, but I usually make regular flutes. Clay flutes are one of the easier wind instruments to play.

It has been decorated deftly with an attractive pattern of sandy white waves, each on the point of breaking, falling one after the other in an unbroken circle. It has been coated with a vivid summer sea blue glaze.

Yet their memory pales next to the disarming down white pattern of hummingbirds on this flute. It is covered with a vivid sun-baked red glaze.

Ink wells

The expert result for ink wells in the Sung pottery room is quite attractive. They function as normal ink wells.

This masterpiece ink well has been laboriously crafted from clay and takes the form of an intricate lotus.  The fragile petals have been formed to perfection and the lotus is fully opened in a ceramic suggestion of revealing enlightenment at any moment.  It is covered with a lustrous pale wine gold glaze.

Standing vases

I make standing vases in the Ninja guild pottery room, which is dangerous to access for non-assassins. They can be placed as furniture and can hold about 2 pounds, or about twenty items.

Tall and with a flat base, this pleasant vase serves its purpose as a work of art rather than a mere container. A quantum weather butterfly, its wings able to change the world with a single flap, has been stained on the vase in indigo. It is covered with a shiny white glaze.

Similarly, standing amphoras are made in the Hashishim guild pottery room. They can be placed as furniture and can hold about 2 pounds, or about twenty items.

This beautiful amphora features graceful curves and two attractive handles on either side of the neck.  It has clearly been crafted by an expert potter as the clay is silky smooth and almost wafer thin; nothing like the common amphora seen in kitchens and storerooms.  A gently sparkling stream coursing along the base of mountains soaring into the heavens, with tiny yet elaborately detailed pearwood trees covering their lower slopes, was stained onto it in moss green and storm-cloud grey with near unparalleled skill.  It is covered with a lustrous battlefield crimson glaze.

Trophies

This was very time consuming to make, due to wanting to get the long description just right. This trophy is on display in the Thieves' Guild Trophy Cabinet.

This precisely crafted kylix is almost a piece of art.  Held by its two stately handles, drinking from this fine cup would make anyone feel honoured.  An artistic pattern of black dollar signs adorns the cup.  It is covered with a gleaming gold glaze.

Lockpicking

See Research:Pick for my research into lockpicking. Many of the hardest pickable locks in the game require exactly 1000 bonus. Note that other locks exist that are either unpickable, or require unrealistic bonuses -- e.g. over 2000.

My covert.lockpick.doors bonus is 950, which can be temporarily boosted to exactly 1000 by stacking black leather gloves (+2 Dex), Mazda's bonus (+1 Dex), Tsortean horse (+2 Int), and intelligence tea (+1 Int).

Notes:

  • If fewer than 6 teapots, the extra commands in "pot", "st", and "gl" do nothing, but this is fine.
  • Repeat the "st" command 1, 2 or 3 times depending on the type of stain.
  • Since "gk" checks colors, it only gets finished pots from the kiln.
  • I just "gk" again to see if the pots on the rack have cooled off.
  • Finally, "oz" sets a 1 hour timer for the next job.

Additional notes:

Failing a trap in Miss Band's classroom can result in losing consciousness, which breaks the rest of the alias. I then need to travel back to Sandelfon's high altar. For this reason, it would be nice if Miss Band's classroom was the start location. Unfortunately, meditation (as of Feb 2021) also *always* causes you to lose consciousness, so "meditate over prayer beads" has to come last and the high altar must be the start location.

Research: There might be possible ways to TM stealing up to high levels (while idlechasing), but nothing has been practical for me.
