Revision as of 03:57, 25 August 2015
Apparently metal filings for the third version of the spell are acquired by somehow using the grindstone in the farm smithy in Dinky, but I haven't been able to figure out how.

It must have been a bug, because it wasn't working an hour ago. Now there is a syntax for grind:
grind <object> down
grind steel down You start to grind down a steel. You grind down the steel, creating a small pile of metal filings before discarding the remainder. g filings Some metal filings. l filings This is a medium pile of tiny, dust-like pieces of metal, about three handfuls.
The item used is destroyed, the amount of filings produced probably depend on the weight of the item.
The steel (~6 lb) gave 3 handfuls, the lump (~40 lb) gave 12 and 13 another time. For a long sword (3 1/9 lb) it gave between 1 and 2 handfuls. For a falcata (5 5/9 lb) it gave 3 handfuls.

iron breastplate = 7 handfuls (14 2/9 lb), medium metal shield = 9 handfuls (17 7/9 lb), metal gauntlets = 2 handfuls (4 4/9 lb), metal helm = 5 handfuls (9 lb)
So except for the lumps it seems to be giving about half the lb in handfuls.
