falling room

I seem to recall that you can no longer use blue rings in the falling room - anyone want to test this? I'd hate to be giving invalid "this is how not to die" info here.

I'm pretty sure that last time I tested, the wizards float spell "finnebaugh's thaumic float (ftf)" (check spelling) protected against falling from brass neck, but that was a long time ago.

Ah, damn, really? I didn't realize it had been changed... --Ilde 03:12, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
Have you ever been able to? Even when I first started trying to do anything while falling gave a "You're too busy watching your life flash before your eyes to do anything" or similar. Rehevkor 04:06, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
It used to work, then it was changed. About the same time as the tower of art falling room was changed not to use a blue ring as I recall. Zexium 09:20, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
Let me clarify - for finneblaugh's thaumic float to work, you have to cast the spell _before_ walking off of the cliff. I also have a log of me walking off of one of the cliffs, falling, and not dieing somewhere - I landed in the room the ghost I had gone to resurrect was in. Maybe you just need about 2k hp to survive a 35 yard fall?

The road widens out into a sizable clearing here. The clearing is home to a
rather impressive looking building to your east. The size of the building,
and the sounds of merriment issuing from within, leads to the conclusion that
it is an inn for tired travellers. To the northeast, a precarious and
overgrown path curls around Leaping Mountain like a python leading to the
village of Brass Neck. An equally overgrown path leads to the west, while
the rest of the Ramtops lies southwards. There seems to be a dead-end of
 sorts to the north.
It is a warm summer prime's midday with almost no wind and some puffy clouds.
There are five obvious exits: north, south, east, west and northeast.
A wooden sign is beside the entrance to the inn and a wooden pole with a
white note and an olive note attached to it is trying to be noticed.

This is the southernmost part of the road that leads towards the village of
Brass Neck. The road is overgrown with thick vegetation and errant stones,
creating a path that only a mountain goat would be able to navigate with any
degree of confidence. The village of Brass Neck can be reached by following
the path northwards. The path to the southwest leads back to the rest of the
 Kingdom of Lancre.

Down below you see: The moorland flourishes with life in the warmth of the
summer. Well, relatively to the rest of the year anyway. Small yellow
flowers grow in patches amongst the grass that shoots out of nearly every
crack and crevice. A small trickle of meltwater from the mountains runs
between the shoots, following the cracks in the ground. Near here are a
towering mountain range and an evergreen forest. The village of Brass Neck
is to the west and mountainous terrain rises to the south and southeast.
Two miles to the west is the road to Brass Neck, forty miles to the south is
Lancre Town and ten miles to the south is the village of Bad Ass.
It is a warm summer prime's midday with almost no wind and many puffy clouds.
 There are no obvious exits.
You find it hard to float and make a quick trip thirty-five yards downwards.

I did (cast, and succeed at, the spell before walking off a cliff), when I tested it. However, my wizard only has 1370 hp (so... probably wouldn't have survived even the smaller drop :( )... and ended up in the room south of Brass Neck, which (judging by the surrounding terrain) is a much further drop.
Suppose FTF needs further testing, then (I can't cast it anymore, though, after the changes to it, any volunteers?). --Ilde 14:37, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

ETA: Meh, I miss negative hp being shown. Would have made poking this easier. --Ilde 14:39, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
