Regarding crime and punishment - I believe it's enough to start a fight in a shop to be banned from buying stuff? This seems to have happened to me twice this year, and to my knowledge, I haven't actually even attacked or killed a shopkeeper. I did however attack a nobleman in order to lead him out of the shop.
