T-Shop Stops

From Discworld MUD Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

This page documents where Travelling Shop stops around the Disc.

A more condensed version in T-Shop Stops/Table provides quick lookup of the exit from inside the shop, for use when scrying the shopkeeper and trying to guess at which stop the shop is.

The stops are ordered into zones that mostly fit with the type of money used.

Most stops that have a room map and description have been verified as being up to date on April 30th, 2011 and some later.

Contents

What is shown

First the result of glancing the room is the title of the stop, showing the room's short name and the exits.

Then the long description of the room where the T-shop stops is reproduced.

  • You must enter the T-shop from the room marked with "@".
  • There is a "T" for the T-shop room. When using map the room where the T-shop is looks like an empty square.
  • The exit to the T-shop is always the last exit visible with glance and the last named obvious exits in the room description.

T-shop notifications

You know that the T-shop has arrived to a new stop when you see:

From the inside:
You suddenly notice a door where there wasn't one before. This must mean that the shop has arrived at another place.

When the type of money used by the shop changes you can see:

The shopkeeper runs around changing the price tags on all the merchandise to reflect the shop's new location.

Some times the shopkeeper also says or does something else related to the area where the stop is, but not all the time.

When the T-shop leaves it looks like:

From the inside:
The door out of the shop surreptitiously loses itself amongst all the junk and, with an almost imperceptible lurch, the shop resumes its journey.

Stops

Counterweight Continent

The currency used by the shop in this zone is Agatean Empire money.

When stopping somewhere in this zone you might see:

The shopkeeper searches through the items for some old Auriental rugs, but doesn't find any.

Brown Islands

The edge of a small native village [n,s,e].

It is in the island centre opposite the T-Ferry.

[edge of a small native village]
$-$ Just north of a dry, sandy beach stands a small native village. A grassy clearing is just to the
     |/| north, in which you can see some sort of totem pole. There also appear to be a few huts you could
$- enter there, one of which is just to the east of here. To the south you can see a pier and the
     | sparkling azure sea stretching out as far as the eye can see.
@-T There is a doorway in the east wall leading into a curious shop.
     | It is a warm secundus autumn's afternoon with almost no wind and a beautifully clear sky.
-$- There are three obvious exits: north, south and east.
\|x| A naive native is standing here.

Isle of Tonahamen aka Thursday's Island

A desert island [clockwise,anticlockwise,enter sea,s].

The room where you can wait for the T-shop has a scar that looks like a small shop when you look at it.

It is the north room as seen from the surrounding ocean.

[desert island]
@ The ocean encompasses this area, which is little more than a sandbank. It's circular in shape and
     | a solitary palm tree marks, more or less, mid-centre of the island. Passing gulls make occasional
     T screeches overhead.
There is a doorway in the south wall leading into a curious shop.
It is a hot secundus autumn's evening with almost no wind and a beautifully clear sky.
There are four obvious exits: clockwise, anticlockwise, enter sea and south.
            Wreck-Me-Own-Boat Thursday is standing here.

Klatch

When stopping somewhere in this zone you might see:

The shopkeeper coughs and gags.

The shopkeeper sweats silently.

Djelibeybi

The currency used by the shop in this zone is Djelibeybi money.

The eastern side of the east bazaar [n,s,w,enter stall,nw,sw,e].

Between the player bank south of it and the language school north of it.

[eastern side of the east bazaar]
*-*-&- A large set of buildings to the east marks the edge of Djelibeybi's famous bazaar. To the
 |x|x| northeast the language school tries to attract pupils finding the local dialect a little hard to
&-&-$+ grasp, and a squat shop huddles to the southeast. The riotous market stalls stretch out in all
 |x|x| other directions, providing a racket of colour and life.
&-&-@-T One of these stalls, a jolly-looking blue one, has been pitched here.
 |x|x| There is a doorway in the east wall leading into a curious shop.
&-&-&+ It is a hot Sog's afternoon with a strong breeze and a beautifully clear sky.
 |x|x| There are seven obvious exits: north, south, west, enter stall, northwest, southwest and east.
 *-$-$-

The Road of the Moon outside a dingy workshop [s,e,nw,w].

It is a bit southeast of the Ur Gate.

[Road of the Moon outside a dingy workshop]
& The land is lit up by the eerie light of the waxing crescent moon.
\ Night-blooming cacti along the roadside fill this otherwise dull area with a pleasantly sweet
   * aroma. Tiny footprints in the sand hint at small desert creatures that scuttle between the
\ twilight purple flowers. A trampled gravel path leads to a small workshop of some kind, while the
T-@+ Road of the Moon continues to the south and northwest: the former looking rather more inviting.
     | There is a doorway in the west wall leading into a curious shop.
     * It is a slightly chilly Sog's night with a steady wind and a beautifully clear sky.
\+ There are four obvious exits: south, east, northwest and west.
$- A nauseating vagabond (hiding) is standing here.
A tortoise shell, a dirty grey robe and a battered metal tin are on the ground.

The start of a curve on the eastern side of Ephebe Road, near a small cottage [sw,n,w,e].

It is a bit southwest of the Harbour Gate.

[start of a curve on the eastern side of Ephebe Road, near a small cottage]
       * This is the start of the richer part of Ephebe Road. From here it is possible to see both rich
/ and poor housing, although the poor housing is far enough away to the north that it doesn't
-* produce a smell. People walk past occasionally, talking animatedly about their wholly
     | uninteresting lives. On the western side of the road sits a small cottage. The city wall squats
+@-T to the southeast of the road, which continues along to the north and southwest.
+/ There is a doorway in the west wall leading into a curious shop.
-* It is a reasonably hot Seedtime's afternoon with a strong breeze and a beautifully clear sky.
There are four obvious exits: southwest, north, west and east.

The Road of the Sun [se,w,s,n].

It is outside a jewellery store.

[Road of the Sun]
     T
     | Despite the Road of the Sun being a chiefly residential street, a few businesses have set up
$-@ successfully along its length. Here, a rather upmarket jewellery store can be found on the south
/ +\ side of the street, its shiny products gazing out through the window panes, longing to be bought.
& $ Across from the jeweller's, Thrrp, the Charioteer of the Sun, can be seen in bright fresco,
+\ \ pulling His incandescent load across the sky.
         * There is a doorway in the west wall leading into a curious shop.
         | It is a reasonably hot Seedtime's afternoon with a strong breeze and a beautifully clear sky.
There are four obvious exits: southeast, west, south and north.
A small cairn is standing by the wall.

Temple Street [se,w,s,n].

It is just outside the Temple of Sessifet.

[Temple Street]
/ The entrance to a squat and most uninteresting temple sits patiently on the southern side of the
 * T road. The only decoration is of a badly carved snake which winds around the entrance itself.
 |\ | Judging by the crowds to the southeast and the northwest and the quietness here this can't be a
*-@ popular stretch of the road. This is probably because there's nothing here to do or see so
     |\ everyone heads off elsewhere.
$- There is a doorway in the north wall leading into a curious shop.
It is a damn hot Inundation's evening with a steady breeze and a beautifully clear sky.
There are four obvious exits: southeast, west, south and north.

The Hood's northwestern plaza [s,e,w,se,nw,n].

[Hood's northwestern plaza]
   * T Towards the north a row of huts frames this part of the plaza, which expands to the south, east
\| + and southeast. From the northwest a foul stench wafts in, the scene filled with heaps of dumped
+@-*+ rubbish littering the ground. Immediately to the west a large hut has been erected. Above a
     |x| makeshift cover of half-ripe flax and large leaves keeps out the scorching heat a bit. In the
*-$ centre of this part of the plaza a low boulder construction has been built.
+ | There is a doorway in the north wall leading into a curious shop.
There are six obvious exits: south, east, west, southeast, northwest and north.

Ephebe

A fork in Ponder Alley [nw,w,s,e].

[fork in Ponder Alley]
\ Ponder Alley splits here, with one side continuing on its line between the surrounding buildings, and
 * another branch heading towards a back entrance for the important-looking structure to the west. This
\ is a pretty well-kept alley, as alleys go. Even so, the western branch may be more interesting than
*-@-T continuing along this littly byway to the south.
   | There is a doorway in the east wall leading into a curious shop.
   *

The northwestern end of Flatulus Walk [se,nw,n,e,ne,sw].

[northwestern end of Flatulus Walk]
*-* &-&-&- This is a peaceful spot by the main entrance to the famous Harbour Market where Flatulus Walk
|x|/|x|x|x intersects with the Street of Enlightenment on its tour around the Slouching Gardens to the
-$-$-$-$- northwest. The cobbled street continues to the southeast alongside the border with the bustling
/ \|x|x|x marketplace and on its journey passes a couple of temples and an interesting looking taverna.
@-$-$- There is a doorway in the southwest wall leading into a curious shop.
   / \|x|x
  T $-$-
     / +\

In the middle of Eureka Chase [w,e,n].

[In the middle of Eureka Chase]
T $- A relatively quiet residential street, Eureka Chase is lined with small, stout, houses on either
    | / side of a dusty cobbled street. The stones here have seen a lot of traffic over the years,
$-@-* between locals and those just passing through as a shortcut between Petulia Avenue to the east
+/ and Paradox Avenue in the distance to the west.
& There is a doorway in the north wall leading into a curious shop.
+

The Slouching Gardens of Ephebe, north of the citadel [n,e,w,nw,ne,s].

[Slouching Gardens of Ephebe, north of the citadel]
&-*-&-*- A break from the grass that abounds in the luscious Slouching Gardens of Ephebe, here a large
|x|x|x / sandpit sits, surrounded by the grassy lawn. The sand is fine and white and is clearly cleaned
&-*-$-*-*- on a regular basis. Slightly off centre of the oval sandpit stands an impressive statue of
|x|x|x|x|x some Ephebian god. Just across the Street of Enlightenment from here, a large rock climbs up
&-$-@-$-$- into the air from which people can dive into the pool just to the east of it.
|/ | \ There is a doorway in the south wall leading into a curious shop.
& T

Near the northern end of Petulia Avenue [n,se,sw].

[near the northern end of Petulia Avenue]
-* This is the stretch of Petulia Avenue just before the point where it finishes its northwards
    | meander and merges with Dockside Walk. The scuffed walls of slightly shabby buildings can be seen
    * through the gloom here, their owners obviously too busy to constantly cover up the marks made by
    | preoccupied and careless passers-by. Petulia Avenue continues to the north, where it meets with
@ Dockside Walk, and to the southeast.
/ \ There is a doorway in the southwest wall leading into a curious shop.
  T $
       \
        *
        |

A stretch of Philosopher's walk [nw,se,sw].

[a stretch of Philosopher's walk]
$ Philosopher's walk continues its relaxed journey upwards towards the Citadel to the northwest here, the rest of the
/ \ street lazily sloping southeast, eventually leading to the docks. A number of people appear to be gathered to the
@ southeast, but it's hard to tell why from here. To the northwest there appears to be a sharp bend in the street,
/ \ and some kind of civic office.
T *- There is a doorway in the southwest wall leading into a curious shop.

Ramtops

The currency used by the shop in this zone is Lancre money.

When stopping somewhere in this zone you might see:

The shopkeeper says in Uberwaldean: Hopefully we won't crash into any mountains when we take off again.

The shopkeeper says: Those mountains always make for tricky flying.

Escrow

The northern side of the town square [n,s,e,w,sw,se,nw].

[northern side of the town square]
     * The land is lit up by the eerie light of the waning gibbous moon.
     | This is the town's square where much of the community's commerce takes place. Red stone bricks
T * pave the square and seem to almost glow softly in the night. A street leads off between two
+ +\| + + buildings to the north. Shops and other buildings surround the square with allowances for roads
*-*-@-$-*- leading in and out. To the east stands a tall building with a fancy clock set into it. In the
 |x|x|x| centre of the square, a beautiful well is set into the ground.
*-& $-*+ There is a doorway in the northwest wall leading into a curious shop.
 |x|x|x| It is a chilly secundus summer's night with almost no wind and a beautifully clear sky.
$-*-$-$ There are seven obvious exits: north, south, east, west, southwest, southeast and northwest.
 | + + ++

Lancre Town

The southern edge of Lancre Town [n,w,nw,e].

[southern edge of Lancre Town]
-&-*- The land is lit up by the eerie light of the waxing crescent moon.
+|x| This is the southern-most edge of Lancre Town. A darkened path to the south nestles between two
$-$- buildings, leading to the darkened unknown of Lancre Gorge and Lancre Castle. Although far from
/ \| the excitement of the Market, a great commotion emanates from the rowdy building to the west
+@-T drawing the attention of both locals and foreigners.
     | There is a doorway in the east wall leading into a curious shop.
     * It is a damn cold secundus autumn's night with a steady breeze and some puffy clouds.
     | There are five obvious exits: north, south, west, northwest and east.
     * A bouncy sign is attached by one chain to the wall.
     |

Mad Stoat

A village road [n,e,w,sw,s].

It is at the junction with the southwest road, the north road and the east road.

[village road]
+*+ The land is lit up by the eerie light of the waxing crescent moon.
     | This open space of packed earth would appear to be Mad Stoat's interpretation of a village square.
+*+ The soft blanket of night has settled on this part of the village, drenching the road in shadows.
     | + | To the west and to the north stand the faint silhouettes of a number of cottages. Further north,
+@-*-$- the road curves off into shadows. To the south stands the slightly ominous looming outline of a
  + /| + large, sinister house.
   * T There is a doorway in the south wall leading into a curious shop.
/ + It is a freezing cold secundus autumn's night with a steady breeze and a few high level cirrus
 & clouds.
\ There are five obvious exits: north, east, west, southwest and south.

Ohulan-Cutash

Ohulan-Cutash, Long Alley [e,s,sw,n].

It is just west of the retrophrenologist at the middle of Long Alley.

[Ohulan-Cutash, Long Alley]
&- This is Long Alley which runs through one of Ohulan-Cutash's less affluent areas. Time has not
/|\ been kind to the dilapidated buildings along this alley, their weatherbeaten planks and crumbling
T *- plaster conjuring up a feeling of melancholy neglect over the area. The alley continues to the
     |\ / southwest and east.
@-*- There is a doorway in the north wall leading into a curious shop.
/+ ++ It is a chilly secundus autumn's afternoon with almost no wind and scattered puffy clouds.
*+ There are four obvious exits: east, south, southwest and north.
   | A psychotic strongarm is standing here.

Slice

A road through Slice [n,nw,se,s].

Outside the general store near the east end.

[road through Slice]
+/ This is a quiet road through the village of Slice. The cottages that are scattered to the
-$ northwest are somewhat less frequent here, the residential making room for the few shops and
+\+ stores that make up the backbone of Slice's fragile economy. To the north lies a shop with a sign
@ hanging outside the door. The heart of Slice lies to the northwest, and the road here continues
     |\+ southeast through the village.
T+$- There is a doorway in the south wall leading into a curious shop.
+ It is a very chilly secundus autumn's morning with a strong breeze and many puffy clouds.
There are four obvious exits: north, northwest, southeast and south.
            A painted sign is here.

Sto Plain

The currency used by the shop in this zone is Ankh-Morpork money.

When stopping somewhere in this zone you might see:

The shopkeeper looks hungry for cabbage.

The shopkeeper sniffs the air and whimpers in disgust.

The shopkeeper coughs and gags.

Ankh Morpork

Filigree Street east of some shops [w,e,n].

Just east of the player shop.

[Filigree Street east of some shops]
T *- The land is lit up by the eerie light of the waxing crescent moon.
   | | /| Filigree Street remains busy even after dark. With the Patrician's Palace at one end and the
*-$-@-* Mended Drum in the middle, there is always a reason for someone to be walking up or down this
+ | street. Most of the people around here after dark seem more intent on being somewhere else,
rather than being here for any particular purpose, and are just passing through. The shops are
closed for the night and lights shine from the upper windows of the buildings on either side of
the street. A long bench has been placed against a wall.
A number of people pass by as they go about their lives (or in some cases, existences).
There is a doorway in the north wall leading into a curious shop.
It is a freezing cold secundus autumn's night with a steady breeze and a few high level cirrus
            clouds.
There are three obvious exits: west, east and north.
A street lamp is emitting a grimy light here.

The southwestern corner of Sator Square [ne,n,se,e,s,w].

Just south of the Unseen University gates.

[southwestern corner of Sator Square]
*-*-*- The land is lit up by the eerie light of the waxing crescent moon.
     |x|x|x This is the southwestern corner of Sator Square, where the wall of Unseen University bends around
-$-$-*- from north to west. North and east of here are the multitude of stalls that form Sator market,
     |x|x|/ and to the south The Cham leads towards the Plaza of Broken Moons.
T-@-$-$- There is a doorway in the west wall leading into a curious shop.
     |x|/ + It is a very cold secundus autumn's night with a gentle breeze and many puffy clouds.
*-* There are six obvious exits: northeast, north, southeast, east, south and west.

     |x|

The east side of the Plaza of Broken Moons [n,nw,w,s,sw,e].

Just south of the Hopper Street intersection.

[east side of the Plaza of Broken Moons]
&-&-&+ The eastern side of Plaza of Broken Moons is just as busy as the rest of this area. The Plaza is
 |x|x|/ a popular gathering place for many of the city's vendors, and people of all races and creeds
*-$-$- wander around in search of a good bargain. They seem quite prepared to haggle, or yell if need
 |x|x|+ be, until they get one. The Plaza stretches to the west and continues north and southwest from
 &-$-@-T here.
 |x|x| Several groups of people can be seen walking past, quite energetically. Either this neighbourhood
&-*-$+ is near one of the busier areas of the city, or people are just in a hurry to get away.

The Street of Small Gods [w,e,s].

East of the Temple of Small Gods.

[Street of Small Gods]
*- This is a busy section of the Street of Small Gods, in the middle of the main temple section. The
   | |/ street continues west past the Temple of Small Gods towards Short Street, and east towards the
*-*-@-* Plaza of Broken Moons. To the east of here stand the temples of Gufnork and Sek, while to the
   | | | west are the imposing forms of the Temples of Blind Io and Small Gods. From here small floating
T balls of fluff can be made out wafting over from the temple of Gufnork, while only a dark trail of
            smoke rises from Sek's.
Several groups of people can be seen walking past, quite energetically. Either this neighbourhood

Attic Bee Street [s,nw,e,n].

It is a bit west of Short Stree.

[Attic Bee Street]
-$ T The land is lit up by the eerie light of the waxing crescent moon.
\| + + You are near the middle of Attic Bee Street. To the east you can hear the busy babble of Short

Widdershins Broadway [w,e,s].

East of the Lancre Co-op.

[Widdershins Broadway]
& This is Widdershins Broadway. This road continues to both east and west. To the north lies the
\ / Patrician's Palace and gardens. Unfortunately, a high wall blocks the view of them.

The Street of Cunning Artificers [ne,w,n].

Northeast of Bitwash Street.

[The Street of Cunning Artificers]
T *- The Street of Cunning Artificers, the richest street in Morpork as far as crafts and skilled
+ |/ artisans are concerned, stretches away into the distance northeast and west. Shops fill the
*-@ street, thousands of them! Well, quite a few at least.

The south end of Upper Broadway [nw,s,w].

North of the Hubwards Gate.

[south end of Upper Broadway]
*+ Upper Broadway meets with Endless Street directly to the south of here. Its wide expanse spreads
\ out to the northwest, toward the Patrician's Palace, and the center of the city. To the
*+ northwest, a huge shape looms, looking oddly like a pepper pot, while the Hubwards Gate, a short
\ way away to the south, looks a little less huge.

[Cockbill Street]
+& This is Cockbill Street, which runs from the cattle market in the south to Pearl Dock in the
     | north, or vice versa depending on which way you're going. It also marks a slight change in the
-*-$+ character of The Shades, becoming a little more affluent in the west, with wider streets and
/| merchants' warehouses rather than the maze-like alleys and slum properties of the area to the

Pseudopolis Yard [n,e,w,nw,sw,s].

In the northwest corner of Pseudopolis Yard.

[Pseudopolis Yard]
