Revision as of 00:21, 6 September 2010

This page is for previous player updates on the Discworld MUD's status and discussion, comments are no longer up to date or official. Please wait for permission before deleting ANYTHING from the current Status page. If you are moving information from the current Status page to here, please use the horizontal line to separate incidents of downtime by the amount of time down, not by days alone - i.e, should the game be down from April 18 to the 21, then that is one block rather than four.

If there is scheduled maintenance the MUD status should show on this page: http://www.brist.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/dwstatus.html

To find or add information to recent incidents of inquiry on Discworld's downtime, please visit Status.

Mud Down 153.107.33.152 02:39, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

Mud Up Zexium 18:30, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

I can't seem to connect to either the mud or the website. Is that happening for anybody else? Stjala 02:30, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

I'm getting it too; I'm pretty sure it's down. --Ilde 03:34, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

Same, it went down on me about 3 hours ago. --Sulvor 03:35, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

OMG the disc has fallen off the great Atuin! --Tangathor 10:00pm, April 16th 2010 (PST)

The main webpage is back online currently, no idea on how long it'll stay that way. Edit: Game up, as well. --Helaena 06:24, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

Seems down again now. It is just as the prophecy foretold. Once Drakkos has departeth from the land, at the timeth of the great eruption of ash, verily there shall be much downtime on the disc. --Rig 8pm Perth

Mud up. --Gunde 13:17, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

Mud scheduled to be down at 20:00 UTC tonight, that is 3pm PDT, 4pm EDT, 9pm BST, 22:00 CEST and 6am in Sydney. Estimated downtime is 1-2 hours. --Gunde 18:47, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

The announcement:

Bulletin Boards: Announcements
Downtime later today
Note #10 by Tique at Mon Apr 19 16:25:21 2010 on board announcements

Tubul is having some hardware problems at the moment. We don't expect this to affect the MUD's performance for now, but as it affects other parts of the system, this might not remain the case.

There will be downtime later today of an hour or two at approx. 9pm UK time to allow a clean shutdown and some hardware shuffling. We apologise for the inconvenience!

The status web page mentioned above was not updated for this maintenance event!

Is it down again, or still down? I can't connect at all. Beezir 00:32, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Still Down Zexium 00:45, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Still Still Down Stjala 01:59, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Still (x3) down. -- Helaena 07:32, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Assuming that Sojan has real work to do today (Tuesday 20th April) and given that whatever problem prevented the mud rebooting last night was not resolved before he went to bed last night, I think it's reasonable to assume at this point that the MUD is unlikely to be back until sometime this evening (UK time) at the earliest. Zexium 09:45, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

MUD still down, though the website proudly proclaims "It Works!" Medders 14:48, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

- Also responding to SSH connections, with that and the default Apache page it looks like it might be a rebuild job Nhum 15:28, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

"Server: up. Maintenance: completed." Situation normal: all fucked up. -- Eucalypta 20 April 2010

Yes, I did say above that The status web page mentioned above was not updated for this maintenance event! Sojan didn't use the server status page for this maintenanace outage, so as he never switched it over to "server down for maintenance," the fact that it still says "server up" is meaningless! The fact the apache server is up suggests that at least some of the hardware is working, but I don't know if the apache server is on the same hardware as the mud these days. Zexium 17:19, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Down? Unable to connect via zmud, or to discworld.atuin.net webpage. Helaena 03:04, 11 May 2010 (UTC) - EDIT: Now connected. Helaena 03:06, 11 May 2010 (UTC) Nope, got in and lagged out, can't get in now. :( *sobs with Ilde* Helaena 03:15, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

I can't connect to either. Nooooooooo! --Ilde 03:14, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
Connected! And was apparently already playing, so I guess it wasn't a proper crash. :O --Ilde 03:23, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Judging by the lack of posts my guess is no - but is anyone else having issues connecting? The game dropped at about a quarter to 1 (est) for me, and I've been unable to get back in since. Helaena 06:24, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

Can't connect either. The machine seems to be up, but the server doesn't respond. Thalic 09:10, 27 May 2010 (CEST)

Is it down? I can't connect to the MUD or the homepage. --Ilde 07:00, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

It's down for me too...again. Rumburak 07:27, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

Still down (I'm getting twitchy, I have no life outside the disc) Thalic 09:25, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

O.K....up again. Uptime says since an hour. Rumburak 11:20, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

I'm seeing the page say the server is up, but I can't seem to connect to the game/main website. (Also, should we maybe make another page for older status reports?) Helaena 03:03, 1 June 2010 (UTC) Edit: I went ahead and made Previous Status Information - maybe someone with more wikithority can decide when they want to clean up here and there (or else Status is going to be one very, very long page.) Helaena 03:21, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

Recieving errors: 502 & 503. Could it be a capacity issue? --Gumpus 23:37, 31 May 2010 (EST)

2010-August-7 DNS lookup failing. If someone has the IP address please post it here.

Having the same issues - can't connect via the game with telnet/zmud/etc. Can't connect to the website. Moving old information here to Previous Status Information to avoid massive scrolling issues for others posting here.--Helaena 03:13, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
