Skills needed

I successfully completed the mission with an unskilled crew (with two of us, me included, being the first timers) as the ship's captain with the following skills. We were sailing at night:

• ad.mo.sa 198 bonus
• ad.ac.ba 174 bonus
• ad.di 314 bonus

I fell off the ship three times in total; tying the rope ttok multiple attempts. Checking the charts and the cabin compass worked perfectly every time. Gazing at the stars half of the time.

Initially I also searched the storage for some ropes and other materials. It took around eight attempts to find what I was looking for.

Playing with a dragon is definitely possible in the engine room. However, it probably needs to be taken out of the circle first and should be alone.

Ranged weapon damage

You can currently throw or fire 3 different types of projectile at either monster:

1) A bolt, fired from an arbalest, requires around 300 bonus to hit reliably, costs more gp than harpoon

2) A harpoon, thrown by hand, requires around 300 bonus to hit reliably, costs less gp than bolt

3) An axe, thrown by hand, requires around 400 bonus to hit reliably (some say less, some say more), dont know how much gp it costs

If you hit the monster with any of these, you get a message that you can use to give a rough indication of the damage dealt. Damage messages that I've seen are (in order of increasing damage):

1) <your projectile strike the monster> lightly in <a monster's anatomy>

2) <your projectile strike the monster> weakly in <a monster's anatomy>

3) <your projectile strike the monster> squarely in <a monster's anatomy>

4) <your projectile strike the monster> directly in <a monster's anatomy>

5) <your projectile strike the monster> deeply in <a monster's anatomy>

6) <your projectile strike the monster> viciously in <a monster's anatomy>

7) <your projectile strike the monster> devastatingly in <a monster's anatomy>

From this, it's easy to determine that weapon damage is skill dependent (you get more higher damage messages with more skill), but also that the three different weapons have different 'base' damage, i.e. for the same skill they do more or less damage. In order of increasing damage the weapons are:

1) Harpoon (lowest damage)

2) bolt (medium damage, higher gp cost)

3) axe (highest damage, highest skill requirement)
