Analysis

Curve fitting gives:

Fire
  • Equation: Y = ln(X - 93.1) - 3.96
  • Error: 2.7%
  • Parameters: cutoff = 146, half-life = 34
Chanting
  • Equation: Y = 0.00472X - 0.141
  • Error: 1.66%
  • Parameters: threshold-low = 41, threshold-high = 231
Channeling
  • Equation: Y = ln(X - 146.15) - 3.92
  • Error: 3.33%
  • Parameters: cutoff = 197, half-life = 33
Water
  • Equation: Y = ln(X - 107.77) - 3.70
  • Error: 1.61%
  • Parameters: cutoff = 148, half-life = 26

Generalised Statement

Theory

Research indicates that the weight after preserving is weight-(weight*9)/10. Or 1/10, rounded up, if you prefer. Since this is drastically different from what is on the page currently, I'm going to assume that this is skill based. This seems logical, since the spell continues to tm fire and water, even after success is all but guaranteed. My bonuses at this point are fire.......... 206 257 and water......... 161 232. --Kartoffel 21:29, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

I just did some research with yarrow.

  • Fresh, a maximum of 10 stalks weigh 1/9 lb.
  • Preserved, a maximum of 140 stalks weigh 1/9 lb.

140 stalks of fresh yarrow would weigh 14/9 lb, which divided by 10 gives (1.4)/9 which when rounded would give 1/9.

This is consistent with the divide weight by 10 and round theory. --Frazyl 22:39, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

Testing on regular items
  • The scales indicate that the large watermelon weighs one hundred deben. 22 2/9 or 22 3/9
  • The dried large watermelon weighs 2 2/9 lb.

  • The musk melon weighs 13 4/9 lb.
  • The dried musk melon weighs 1 3/9 lb.

  • The medium watermelon weighs 11 6/9 lb.
  • The dried medium watermelon weighs 1 2/9 lb.

  • The small watermelon weighs 5 8/9 lb.
  • The dried small watermelon weighs 5/9 lb.

  • The Green Billet apple weighs 2/9 lb.
  • The dried Green Billet apple weighs 1/9 lb.

  • The Blackglass Peachface apple weighs 4/9 lb.
  • The dried Blackglass Peachface apple weighs 1/9 lb.

  • The Gammer Smith apple weighs 4/9 lb.
  • The dried Gammer Smith apple weighs 1/9 lb.

  • The Lancre Blackheart apple weighs 5/9 lb.
  • The dried Lancre Blackheart apple weighs 1/9 lb.

  • The rosy red apple weighs 6/9 lb.
  • The dried rosy red apple weighs 1/9 lb.

This also fits with 1/10 rounded with minimum of 1/9 lb. --Frazyl 23:54, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
