Pragi's Molten Gaze (abbreviated as PMG) is a miscellaneous spell that causes the caster's eyes to glow.
Contents
Casting
This spell costs 20 GP to cast and takes up 10 units of mind space.
Skills
The following skills are used in the stages of this spell:
- Magic.methods.mental.animating
- Magic.methods.elemental.fire
- Magic.methods.physical.evoking
- Magic.methods.mental.channeling
Components
The nugget is not consumed, but it becomes leached of colour for a little while, turning it into a "clear glass nugget". A clear glass nugget can't be used for either this spell, or Union of the Phoenix and Divine Dragon.
The nugget will regain colour (apparently of a random hue) after a few minutes:
The clear glass nugget flickers and goes primrose yellow.
It seems to remain clear if it's in a container, though.
Casting messages
Casting
You toss a shimmering glass nugget into the air, where it hangs suspended in front of your eyes. You fix the nugget with your gaze causing it to spin around on its axis. It spins faster and faster, blurring as it returns to a molten form. You probe the molten nugget, seeking out its chromatic essence.
Success
You create a conduit between yourself and the nugget, urging it to release its colour. The colour drains from the nugget and a flash of pumpkin orange light shoots out from it and into your eyes. Your eyes change colour and start to glow pumpkin orange. The clear glass nugget cools and solidifies as it drops back down.
Failure
You suddenly realise that you are wearing a pair of artificer's spectacles! You hastily release the spell. The pumpkin orange glass nugget cools and solidifies as it drops back down.
Eyewear blocks this spell when worn, as do fake beards (possibly anything occupying the "face" layer does research If this has been marked on a page, it's because there was something that probably isn't known, that the person who edited the page thinks could be found out. Perhaps you could figure this thing out, and be famous evermore. ).
What others see
Wizard tosses a shimmering glass nugget into the air, where it hangs suspended in front of her eyes. Wizard stares at the nugget which starts to spin around on its axis. It spins faster and faster, blurring as it returns to a molten form. Wizard continues to stare fixedly at the molten nugget. The air between Wizard and the molten nugget seems to shimmer. The colour drains from the nugget and a flash of wine-dark purple light shoots out from it and into Wizard's eyes.
Effects
It turns your eyes the colour of the nugget at the time of casting--basically, it adds a description line that's constantly changing:
Her eyes shimmer with a pumpkin orange glow.
A soft glow of pumpkin orange light comes from her eyes.
Her eyes glow with a strange pumpkin orange light.
Her eyes are glowing pumpkin orange.
The irises of her eyes glow with a strange pumpkin orange light.
Colours
Some colours have special messages, in addition to the standard ones.
Bright yellow:
Her eyes blaze with a bright yellow glow.
Her irises show a pattern of orange, red and yellow flames.
Her eyes are reminiscent of flames.
Her eyes smoulder with a bright yellow glow.
Tiny flames seem to flicker in her eyes.
Fern green:
Her eyes seem to reflect a dense forest.
Her eyes flicker brown and green, the colours of the forest.
The following colours give the standard messages:
- cobalt blue
- jet black
- pumpkin orange
- slate grey
- wine-dark purple
Duration
Wearing off
It looks like this when it wears off:
Your eyes return to normal.
Notes
Recasting the spell while still under its effects will just change the colour of the glow.
