Horses may wear certain kinds of armour. Since horses have different bodies from humans, they use different layers and their body parts have different to hit % chances.
Armours
Please be advised that to hit % chances are based on insufficient data. More data on body parts hit with focus=none from humans on horses are needed to get a more representative average.

Acquisition
Iron horseshoes are purchased from the Ridings Bit Shop in north Ankh-Morpork.
The other armours are obtained from the horses that accompany knights on the roads of the Sto Plains.
Styles
With the exception of iron horseshoes, horse armor comes in various styles. Styles include:
- articulated
- damascene
- darkened
- filigreed
- gilded
- gleaming
- gothic
- horned
- inlaid
- lightweight[1]
- old-fashioned
- ornate
- reinforced
- riveted
- spiked
- streamlined
- tempered
- winged
- ↑ not actually lighter
Wearing a set of five armour pieces that are all of the same style grants a set bonus: some extra protection over the mount's entire body - including the areas that are not covered by the armour.
Restyling
You can restyle
a horse armour piece in a smithy using crafts.smithing.black.armour for success, but there's always the possibility of it being destroyed. (from the help file)
Even if you succeed, the new style is randomly chosen.
- Failure
restyle peytral You heat the streamlined iron peytral in the forge and begin the complex and arduous task of reshaping it into a new style. Halfway through your work, in a moment of carelessness, one of your hammer strikes lands wrong on the heated plating and shatters the streamlined iron peytral. What remains is unrecoverable.
