A holy symbol is an item used as a non-consumed component in a variety of rituals. A holy symbol must be consecrated to one's own deity to be usable.

Uses
A very large number of rituals require a holy symbol, making it an essential item for any priest.
The wearable Gufnorkian and Sandelfonic symbols are also usable as targets for the Totem ritual for those gods.
Holy symbols can also be brandished at vampires to make them flee. Prayer beads can also be used.

Types
For each deity there is a generic globe holy symbol and for deities that can be worshiped there is a special wearable version.
- Generic
There are generic globe holy symbols which weigh 6/9 lb, have the visible name "holy symbol", cannot be worn, can be reconsecrated and look like:
This is a small <material> globe, about the size of a billiard ball, scribed deeply with several circles. On the near face a runic glyph representing <deity> has been cut into the surface and inlaid with <material 2>.

It is so fluffy that it won't even bounce, but it does seem to be eminently huggable. There is a hole through the centre, suggesting that it could be worn over your wrist.

| Gapp | golden thimble This is an ornate thimble, like any tailor or seamstress might use if they were successful enough to afford one. Unlike an ordinary thimble, however, this one is jointed and would cover an entire finger, protecting it from even the most fearsome of needles. The surface is slightly pitted, each pit engraved with a tiny paisley pattern.

| Sandelfon | small square stone his is a small flat square stone, like a miniature paving stone made from something that makes ordinary cement seem like powdery chalk. Incised on the unfinished side is an elaborate maker's mark that looks beyond the skill of a mortal mason. The stone is pierced by a leather thong, and could be worn as a bracelet by the devout.

| Fish | line of shark teeth This is a long strand of brass line, on which are strung a collection of shark teeth. Each tooth has been engraved with a tiny scrimshaw prayer.

| Hat | brass feather This is an elegant feather that appears to have come from a brass vulture, attached to a leather strap. It doesn't seem to be detailed and it is solid and inflexible for a feather, but would serve as a piece of jewellery for someone who wanted to proclaim their faith.

| Sek | black metal medallion This is a wafer-thin disc of steel that has been charred to a jet black finish and strung with a similarly manufactured chain. Around the edge of the disc is a stylised design of seven linked arms, each hand holding the next arm's elbow, surrounding a fearsome reproduction of Sek's distorted grimace.

These wearable versions may not be reconsecrated, although it's possible to make the attempt. Some npc priests in Djelibeybi wear versions of them consecrated to their own deities.
Prayer beads, when sufficiently charged, will also work as holy symbols.

The small square stone, golden thimble, line of shark teeth, black metal medallion, soft fluffy ball (all wearable holy symbols) have been occasionally spotted in the T-shop where they are sold for &&&&&&&&&&+20000 $50 each.
The wearable Hat symbols in particular seem only to be sold in the Genua temple.
Npc priests also often carry symbols consecrated to their own deity. These may come warded, so it's always wise to check before stealing them or taking them from a corpse.
The black metal medallion This is a flat disc of metal that has somehow been made jet black and made into a medallion. Around the edge is a design of seven stylised arms, each arm's hand holding the elbow of the next, and in the centre is a fearsomely ugly visage. from druids around the druid circle in Gloomy forest are probably not holy symbols.
