Dates: Friday 26th February to Sunday 28th February, 2016

Location: Glasgow, Scotland

Premier Inns in Glasgow currently have saver deals (rooms for £35.00-£39.00 per night) for these dates. We'd suggest booking into the Buchanan Galleries Premier Inn - we stayed there for Scotmeet and it's both comfortable and very centrally situated.

Mudmeet Pub

The main pub for the meet will be The Counting House, 2 St Vincent Place, G1 2DH. This is a large Wetherspoons pub about 7 or 8 minutes' walk from the hotel, with the usual cheap Wetherspoons food and drink (notably 18 handpumps for real ale). It's open 7am-midnight every day, serves food all day including breakfast, and they will book out an area especially for us.

Glasgow Central Station is 10 minutes' walk from the hotel. It has direct trains from London Euston, taking 4.5 hours. Cheap tickets for this route start at £20.00 each way (though these sell out fast and won't be released until early December). There's a sleeper service from Euston too! It also has direct trains from places including Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, and Plymouth.

Megabus currently has London-Glasgow prices starting at £13.00 each way. The Glasgow drop-off is Buchanan Bus Station, around 3 minutes' walk from the hotel.

Glasgow Airport has direct flights from places including Amsterdam, Berlin, Birmingham, Budapest, Las Vegas, Manchester, Newark, Paris, Reykjavik, Southampton, Toronto, and Warsaw. There's a 24-hour shuttle bus between the airport and the city centre. Cheaper flights from Europe can be had to Glasgow Prestwick Airport, which is about 40 mins away from Glasgow Central by train, and tickets are discounted to air travellers.

As per tradition, there will be a group meal on Friday night. This will be Mongolian Barbecue at Kublai Khans, 26 Candleriggs, G1 1LD. The restaurant can cater for those with allergies, intolerances, or other special diets, but advance notice is preferable. The cost for this is £20/head including starter, dessert, and all-you-can-eat main course; drinks are extra. If you want to come to this, it will be very helpful if you can sign up for it by Wednesday 20th January.

There will also be a dim sum outing on Sunday lunchtime, at Chinatown Restaurant, 42-46 New City Road, G4 9JT. Vegetarian and vegan options are likely to be sparse but present. There's no urgency to sign up for this, but it'd be nice to see who wants to come along.

Other food options in the city include Caribbean, Chinese, French, Indian, Japanese, Malaysian, Thai, and Vietnamese. There's a bubble tea cafe, several places to get craft beer including a BrewDog bar and Glasgow's own West Brewery, and plenty of real ale pubs. See map of some of the food and drink options.
