Is there some glaringly obvious reason that I'm unaware of that we're using "serpentes" and not "serpents"? Zexium 16:07, 28 June 2012 (UTC)

Not that I am aware of. Where were the classifications taken from in general, and are they important for anything (eg tanning or the like)? --Gunde 18:53, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
You'd need to ask Groth who did most of the bestiary, but Serpentes is the suborder for serpents. Either is good I guess. --Frazyl 21:31, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
If Serpentes is the formal classification, I'm happy, I just wanted to make sure that a mis-spelling hadn't crept in (taxonomy of species really isn't my area of expertise) and although I found both serpentes and serpents in a dictionary, to my mind "serpents" was the expected spelling.
