Blue lotus is an aquatic perennial. Lotus have large leathery leaves that float on the surface and are topped with showy flowers. The plant superficially resembles a water-lily, but the latter is a different genus. Various species of lotus (not necessarily the blue lotus) have been used for food, animal forage, and medicinal purposes. However, if the Discworld blue lotus is at all similar to the Roundworld Egyptian blue lotus, then mild psycho-active properties may be present.
A small pile of bowl-shaped lotus, about one flower. The deep blue colour of the petals warns you of its intoxicating properties.
It is unknown at this time if blue lotus is poisonous, although the description suggests thus.
