This is a small black pine box. The picture of a snake raised to strike has been engraved on the lid. Perhaps the owner of this box liked snakes? You may also see:

Appraises as

The black pine box is about six inches long and four inches wide. It is made of wood and looks like you could hold it. It can hold about 4 pounds or about twenty items. It is in excellent condition.

Acquisition

In the roof of a house at the corner of Dock and Myrtle St. AM. There are some jewellery items in the box when found.

Notes

This is a box with a trap in it. Just opening the box without disarming the trap costs about 200 hp, which is good for practicing curing rituals. You can also try to disarm the trap, although it's unknown whether this gives TMs as the disarm/disable command for the box appears to be different than the learned disable command.

It weighs 1 3/9 lb.

Trap attack: As you open the box a thin blade springs out from the lid and strikes you! You wince in pain.

Failed disarm: You tap the lid three times at the pressure points you believe will disarm the trap and smirk arrogantly until the lid pops open and a blade springs out and hits you.

Successful disarm or disable: You deftly open the box and watch with contempt as a blade springs from the lid of the box, striking at where only an incompetent locksmith would have been.

The trap automatically rearms when the box is closed again after.

Unlike a normal "disable", disabling the box only takes 5 gp and gives no xp. ("Disarm" seems to be a synonym for disable, although you don't have to have the disable command to use "disarm".)
